While we’re spending the holidays happily sinking time into our favorite PS4 games of the past year (or revisiting some classics), we already have an eye on what’s to come for our console. And we’re not the only ones.
E3 2018 was amazing for the team at Media Molecule! We were able to give media the chance to go hands-on with Dreams creation, build a mini-story along with other developers and community (all hail the Mega-Penguin!) and demo Dreams live on a giant stage at the PlayStation booth. And when you watched the PlayStation E3 2018 Showcase, you may have seen the clips of Dreams spliced in and thought “Everyone loves a guitar playing banana… but what does it all mean?!”
Well, the jig is up…err…the gig is up? Following the briefing, our in-house (in-game?) band The Molecules played a 15-minute set, performed entirely in Dreams, for those attending the after-show party. And now, you can see it too!

After an all-too-brief 45-minute demo with creative director Mark Healey, I finally understand. The answer: Dreams is a fully featured game creation engine that anybody with a PS4 and a copy of the game will be able to dive straight into, no game dev experience required.
Hear that? That’s the sound of multiple Trophies being unlocked worldwide, as we try and clear our backlog in anticipation for what’s ahead in 2018 and beyond. Some of the gamers causing that iconic sound to ring out? Developers of your favourite games this year, who are also rushing to clear their gaming calendars.

The time has come, friends! PlayStation Experience 2017 is just around the corner, and if you’ve been dreaming about seeing more Dreams, then Anaheim, California is the place to be! The Molecules are busily working away as we speak, preparing to pack up their suitcases full of Dreams (and maybe some clothes) and head on over to PSX to share it all with you.
On Saturday, December 9, PSX officially opens to the ticket-holding public and we’ll be there hosting a community GAME JAM at our Dreams booth! That’s right, folks: come and jam alongside us to get a firsthand look at how quick and easy it is to make games, music and more just using Dreams.
On this day, 10 years ago a little studio called Media Molecule was founded by a group of friends who went on to have some pretty incredible adventures together. Mark Healey, Alex Evans, Kareem Ettouney and David Smith all met whilst they were working at Lionhead Studios. Along with help from Chris Lee, the man with the business plan, they were soon joined by Siobhan Reddy, Anton Kirczenow and Francis Pang and Media Molecule was officially born!
