This is a very exciting moment for everyone at Impulse Gear. Farpoint has gone gold and is on track for release on May 16, 2017!
In our past few PS.Blog posts we’ve talked about the PS VR Aim controller and how it brings a whole new level of control and immersion to Farpoint. We’ve also discussed the co-op mode and how you and a friend can play online together in VR. Now we want to take a moment to share a little about the single-player narrative experience that Farpoint offers.
The craggy, barren chasms of Farpoint are already dangerous. Now add the hissing, scampering, spitting creatures that live on the planet and you’ll be more thankful for your rifle in this first-person shooter for PlayStation VR. But why brave such dangers alone? The team at Impulse Gear worked hard to build unique levels that you can enjoy with a friend online, and I gave them an honest (albeit doomed) attempt with Impulse Gear Co-founder Seth Luisi.
More shocking than an alien spider jumping at your face, I’m happy to reveal Farpoint co-op! The undiscovered planet in Farpoint is unpredictable and dangerous, but no longer does it have to be a solitary experience. You and a friend can explore the planet together in cooperative levels.
Farpoint places you on on a distant hostile world with your only chance of survival and escape being to uncover its secrets and reunite with your team. In addition to the full single-player campaign, sharing the virtual world of Farpoint in co-op has been a key objective of the project from the beginning.
Hello PS fans. I’m proud to introduce you to Impulse Gear and our first project, Farpoint. Developed exclusively for play in PlayStation VR, Farpoint is an unnerving space adventure set on a hostile alien world. After crash landing you have to fight to survive as you explore and uncover the planet’s secrets. Your only hope of escape is to keep moving and discover the fate of your team.
