It’s been an amazing three weeks since we announced the release date of Marvel’s Spider-Man, coming September 7th, 2018. Your feedback to our release date, collector’s edition, and Game Informer cover story has been tremendous and humbling. Thank you all so much for your support and the kind words on social media!
When we announced the release date, we revealed our pre-order bonus, which includes a Spidey Suit pack containing three suits. But we only showed one suit – Spider-Punk – with the other two being held back to be unveiled later.
Here’s an updated look at the pre-order video, with the second suit revealed.
You all have been waiting for it for a long time – we’ve got emails, phone calls, tweets, Instagram posts, and impassioned pleas. You want to know when Marvel’s Spider-Man will finally be in your hands.
Everyone here at Insomniac Games is thrilled to announce that Marvel’s Spider-Man will launch on Friday, September 7, 2018 exclusively for the PlayStation 4 system. It’s been an incredible experience for us to spend the last few years working on this game. From getting to create our own unique universe and story for our favorite Super Hero, to working with our talented collaborators at PlayStation and Marvel Games, to developing relationships with the Spider-Man and Marvel fan communities (#SpideySquad represent!), it’s been an amazing journey thus far.
My name is Andrew Reiner, executive editor of Game Informer magazine. I’ve been writing about PlayStation games since 1994, and have had the opportunity to visit many of Sony’s studios, including Naughty Dog and SIE Santa Monica Studio, to see games in various forms of development. My latest opportunity was traveling to Insomniac Games in Burbank, CA, to get my hands on the studio’s forthcoming Marvel’s Spider-Man game.
My name is Bryan Intihar and I’m the Creative Director at Insomniac Games working on Spider-Man. It’s been a while since we last showed the game, but today at the PlayStation Media Showcase we unveiled our first gameplay demo, and revealed that the game will arrive on PlayStation 4 consoles in 2018.
I’ve worked on close to 30 games in my 22 years as a game developer, and I don’t think any have been more personally rewarding than Song of the Deep. The game is a 2D Metroidvania-style action-adventure and it launches today. It tells the tale of Merryn, a girl who takes incredible risks in an attempt to rescue her father who has been lost at sea.
What I love most about games as a medium is that they can take you to a world you’ve never seen and let you discover it on your own. At Insomniac, inventing new worlds is probably the best part of our job. You might have been inside one of them before. Maybe it was a magical world of dragons, or a fantastic science fiction galaxy. Or maybe it was crazy city where the apocalypse became your playground.
