Hi there! Justin here, just checking in on the ol’ PlayStation.Blog to make sure everyone is having an excellent time while the team is away on holiday break. Everyone good? I hope you had a great Christmas, if you celebrate it.
Ah! While I’m here, I’ve got something for you: we’ve gathered the ten top-performing trailers published to our YouTube channel in 2017, and collected them here for you to peruse. Perhaps you could queue a few of these up after an especially filling meal, or before you decide to call it a night and bundle up in bed.
2017 is a year packed not only with great gameplay moments, but with fantastic characters. Be it new heroes (Horizon Zero Dawn’s Aloy) or returning rogues (Uncharted’s Chloe Frazer), we asked developers from across the PlayStation spectrum to name their favourite faces from the past 12 months.
Whatever your tastes, 2017 has been a banner year for gaming, with a dizzying array of unforgettable titles hitting the shelves over the last 12 months.
With that in mind, we got in touch with a selection of the genius creators responsible for some of the aforementioned future classics and asked them for their own personal PlayStation highlights of the year.
You and I aren’t the only ones looking forward to settling in over the next several days and sinking some serious time into just some of the spectacular games that have released over the past 12 months. So to are the developers behind those hits. Which brings us to this list. We asked a selection of creators who have released games over 2017 to reveal what games have hooked them during downtime between work commitments this year.
And also, fair warning: spoilers ahead.
Uncharted 4 was a big deal. It was the end for a hero we’d spent nearly a decade with and, 15 months ago, we got to finally share the conclusion of Nathan Drake’s story with the world. It was amazing to see the reception of Nate’s last adventure, and it made all the team’s effort worth it. Then (after a much needed break), we came back to the studio to think about the seemingly unthinkable: Could we make an Uncharted without Nathan Drake?
To us, Uncharted has always been about the ensemble. Over the years, we’ve spent time with many colorful allies and adversaries, each with their own quirks and personalities. We love that everyone at the studio has their own favorite Uncharted character, so we saw this new project as an opportunity to take characters we love and shine a spotlight on them, to really give them the full Uncharted treatment. At Naughty Dog, we don’t embark on a project unless we think we have a story worth telling and new challenges to tackle. With Chloe Frazer and Nadine Ross, we knew we had something special, and the team was on board to dip in for one more helping of adventure.
With Uncharted: The Lost Legacy out Tuesday on PS4, we’ve curated a collection of wallpapers optimized for your desktop (oooh, 4K!), tablet, or phone. Click the corresponding link under each image to download the full-resolution image.
If you haven’t pre-ordered The Lost Legacy yet, you still have a few days to do so and snag a download of Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy for PS4!
So adorn your devices with a new wallpaper or two, watch the launch trailer above, and don’t miss Naughty Dog’s latest adventure when it launches next week.
Just in time for the launch of Uncharted: The Lost Legacy next week, we’re excited to announce a new update for Uncharted 4 Multiplayer that adds new Uncharted: The Lost Legacy character skins, an all-new playable character, and a new cooperative challenge mode: Survival Arena.
Arriving alongside Uncharted: The Lost Legacy on August 22, the update will introduce new skins for Chloe and Nadine featuring character models and outfits pulled directly from Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. We’ll also be adding Asav, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy’s antagonist as a playable villain character for Multiplayer and Survival, complete with his own uniquely menacing VO.
