PlayStation Network Service Restored

230 0

We are aware that the internal clock functionality in the PS3 units other than the slim model, recognized the year 2010 as a leap year. Having the internal clock date change from February 29 to March 1 (both GMT), we have verified that the symptoms are now resolved and that users are able to use their PS3 normally.

If the time displayed on the XMB is still incorrect, users are able to adjust time settings manually or via the internet. If we have new information, we will update you through the PlayStation.Blog or PlayStation.com.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

  • I love you SONY! Picking Heavy Rain tomorrow!

  • Cool Beans.

  • It’s been safe since 4 PST but yay!!!!

  • MLB 2010 THE SHOW, ITS ON!!!!!

  • Nice one, although mine appeared unaffected even though it is a launch model. Glad to see it fixed either way :)

  • Microsoft’s ploy has been foiled ;)

  • the local trophy collection is blanked for any disk game you started while this happened and you cannot synch (PSN games seem to be spared). Get a new one and the trophy list will be refreshed. If you already 100%’d a game your trophies still show up in the compare list so no worries.

  • The NeoGAF thread was the best thread ever, quite frankly.

  • LittleBigPodcast

So what, was this Y2010k? lol, glad it’s fixed!

  • So in others words, you guys didnt do anything and it fixed itself. It only does everything.

  • Thank you for a quick fix to the problem. Excellent communication with the fans as well. I excuse you for the inconvenience.

I am looking forward to picking up MLB 10: The Show tonight at midnight!

  • They better release a firmware quick. Else this will occur every year. x.x

And it might not always fix itself.

  • Only a minor inconvenience. Nothing to get worked up over. Thanks for keeping us posted though.

  • Can we get a free ps1 game or something for this craptastic service ?

  • what about in four years? we good?

  • Yes its the year 2,010,000 bug :P

Or did you mean y2.01k bug?

  • Nice to hear that.!

  • and we would like to thank all of you affected by offering you a $10 psn voucher, thanks for your understanding and being loyal playstation customers

  • Come on the PSN was never the culprit. Its your old PS3 architecture. Admit that there is a bug in the BIOS clock of the older systems. The reason why newer systems were not affected is because they have a newer BIOS clock. If it was the PSN, why was it that PS3 users that have never connected their system to the PSN or the internet also had this issue. Stop using the PSN as your scapegoat. You haven’t fix anything and want everyone to think that you did. It most likely will happen again sooner than later. So if your engineers are able to, you should send a new firmware update. If not, all of us that have the older systems will experience the same issue again.

  • GIVE US CASH GUNS CHAOS for this! this is unforgivable. fire the programmer!

  • tried to sync my ps3 and received error 80711008

    ugh..

  • not saying anyone here complained but its awesome how attitudes go from “Sony sucks” to Sony is the best.anyway glad the drama is over(until the next little thing makes everyone crazy)Thanks for fixing it as soon as possible!

  • Y2K finally caught up to us. Damn you Skynet! Damn you all to hell!!!

  • Thank you!

Thanks for keeping in touch with the users during the problem.

  • PS3. The Jesus console

  • Thank you for DELETING my Heavy Rain trophies. They were synced with PSN, but they still weren’t safe. I stopped using my PS3 as soon as Sony recommended it, but it was too little too late.

Sadly, this happened just as I was starting to use my PS3 more. :(

  • Well… at least it fixed itself.

  • @djruden

live ppl only got a free game cuz there service was down for a week, this is a great free service n definitly not craptastic it was 1.5 days and it wasent even everyones systems man up n buy ur own games stop lookin for handouts from the company that keeps u happy

  • cool when do winners of the ultimate gow fan contest get announced

  • That probably explains why this issue didn’t effect me. One of the clocks on my system is wrong, it always displays the wrong time.

  • Finally, the apocolyPS3 is over and i can play games in the year 2010 again. thanks sony!

  • Finally.

  • So yea where the Hell are my trophies? Care to adress that?

  • @DMPrince

this is very forgiveable since u DONT PAY FOR THIS SERVICE if u dont get that go pay live

  • Clock-Blocked by Sony.

At least I have something to look forward to in 4 years. Sad part is it’s a NeoGaf thread :-/

  • The trophy thing is an issue as I was in the closing credit of Heavy Rain when the error showed up.Putting the game back in does nothing nor does reloading it.I can go to the last chapter played, overwrite my previous save and hope that works but,hey Sony how about giving me back what I earned. The bonus items are still there so something somewhere knows the info.Nice job Sony as you fixed nothing and told us what we already knew many hours ago.All I’m asking for is my trophies back.

  • Thank you Sony.

  • Awesome glad to see its fixed and the all clear has been given.

  • @ sony

i know u dident do n e thing to actually fix this n thats ok cuz u provide a great FREE service keep up the good work im out peace.

  • Omfg. I lost all my Heavy Rain trophies. How the hell did I lose them? I synced them all before all this **** happened.

  • That’s good news for the PS3 phat owners. I guess I’m glad my phat one broke. Thankfully I got a slim. Sorry to hear about the trophy stuff. Sony hopefully you fix it

  • Sony didn’t fix anything the clock went to a new day. They said nothing until this happened and then claimed they’d fixed it.Notice how they make no mention of trophies as they didn’t actually fix the problem that caused it.

  • Right on. Thanks for the consistent updates! I kept off my system all day in hopes of keeping it safe. Look forward to getting back on it!

  • @sony

u didnt do anything to fix it… please dont take credit for it… but can we also get a firmware update to make sure this doesnt happen again.

  • @46 put the Heavy Rain disc in, and sync your trophies. :)
