Thank you for your patience and encouragement over the last few weeks. As covered in the post from earlier today, you can now update the firmware on your PS3 and change your password. Kazuo Hirai just announced that we have begun the phased restoration by region of some of the services, starting with online multiplayer functionality.
Please note that these services will take a bit of time to be turned on and rolled out to the whole country. The process has begun and some states are being turned on now, so please be patient as we reach your city and state. We’ll be updating the map below as service comes online in individual states. It will take several hours to restore PSN throughout the entire country, so please keep checking back for the latest updates. In the meantime, now’s a great time to get your PS3’s firmware updated, which is required to get online.
Notice: If your state is illuminated but your service has not yet been restored, please be patient – it can take a little while for the servers to populate fully.
Until we get the comments functioning correctly, we’re putting all comments on hold. I’m sure Jitender would appreciate not having people put words in his mouth ^_^
In the meantime, we’ll keep updating the map, and those of you already back online – enjoy some games!

@cam8059 Yo man, I’m in Tennessee as well. I’ve had no problem changing my password and signing in. I suspect, with it now being 7:30, everyone is getting up and doing all this at once. So, it is probably just a bit of server stress. Keep signing in with your new password. It should work eventually. If not, I would hit up tech support with the issue.
Ok,im glad psn is back up,but why cant I login to my main account? Im trying to login to my backup account too but it wont work!i have an email for each account but im not receiving any messages about changing my password.

@HawnKeez Wow are you that stupid, they did not get our credit card info they only got screen names,emails,passwords and your address they didnt get your cc info becuase that was the only thing encrypted next time fully read what was said before you open your mouth.

And for the people who are wondering why the store is down, it’s probably (don’t quote me on this) because they’re updating it. cause i mean come on. you know how many people would cram into the servers to get their free 30 days playstation plus? albeit i kind of did the stupid thing and got mass effect 2 while it was still down, so i can’t activate my cerberus card just yet. in the meantime though, enjoy the surplus of littlebigplanet 2 community levels!

@ Hawnkeez: well, I guess there’s no pleasing some unhappy, ungrateful people is there? Also I find it funny that most people who choose that SOCOM avatar are trolls or Negative Nancy’s. All I know is I am happy that the network is online because that means all the people who were quiet and patient during this crisis will get to enjoy their online once more. As for people like you and sid4peeps (whose constant “I’m getting a 360 is this crap isn’t back up yadda yadda waaaa waaa” annoyed me to no end) I have only one thing to say: just go play your Xbox and get games for that console. Don’t even bother with Sony products if you’re gonna hate.
I’m happy the network is back up and I think sony did a good job and congratulate them on a job well done in restoring services.

To be honest, the first two weeks I was okay with, but during the last one it was starting to get old. Wasn’t going to trade my PS3 in, but it was starting to get ridiculous.

I live in Tennessee and I’ve downloaded the update and when I hit sign in it made me change my password. So i did. Then I tried to sign in and it just will not sign in. It keeps saying ” signing in please wait” “if it is taking a long time to sign in, check your network connection.” I was patient and waited about 30 minutes and it still isn’t finished. So i turned off the ps3 and tried again, sane thing happens” So i did a internet test (under network settings) and it found said everything was available until it got to PSN then it said FAILED.
Any ideas on what to do??????

Thank you Sony for all the hard work you have done over these past three weeks. I’m actually glad psn was down for a few weeks. It gave me time to get out of the house and live my life. Instead of just sitting on the couch and playing blackops all day! So for all of you losers who complained and whined about online not being online right away, get a life. Psn is fun and all but you all need to take a break every now and then. Go outside and take a walk or perhaps play some catch. Live your life and dont waste it all on videogames especially not xbox live.. lol but seriously Sony, keep up the good work!

Cam8059 do this turn off your PS3.unplug ur cords to ur system and your tv walk over to your cable modem or router whicever you have unplug everything from it wait 1min then plug all you cable modem and router stuff back in wait another min plug all your ps3 stuff back in then turn ur ps3 on and it should work

And, from a business perspective, I bought a product that I could not use as advertised for almost a month, which was enough time for the new-release game I bought with it to become next to worthless. I don’t say that’s as bad as my name, birthdate, and address being scattered all over the planet, but it’s not NOTHING, either.
