Introducing: MotorStorm RC for PSN and PS Vita

I’m delighted to be able to announce – and show a trailer for – MotorStorm RC, Evolution Studios’ upcoming radio controlled off-road racing game for PS Vita and PlayStation Network. It was also announced literally moments ago on stage – so it’s absolutely hot off the press!

You can watch first video of MotorStorm RC in action here.

I’ve been game director to a small, elite team at Evolution Studios for most of the year, creating a simulation of high-speed radio-controlled car racing for PSN download. We’re extremely pleased with how the game is coming together; it’s a perfect combination of classic racing with really modern connectivity features and it’s already bigger than your average download game, with visually stunning renditions of all four MotorStorm worlds (and eight of their vehicle classes). Every aspect of the game comes loaded with endless competition that you can share with friends and rivals worldwide – whether that’s on PS3 or PS Vita, or both – and we’re still packing it full of challenges, race types and features too!

Everyone who has played MotorStorm RC so far says it really gets you hooked, with an addictive, hypnotic core experience – just like the best arcade games. Also like the best arcade games, stages take just moments to load, giving it that ‘just one more go’ quality, especially when you can play at home on PS3 and then continue your progress on the go with Vita.

And it’s still early days! We’ve got a lot more lined up and we’ll share all of it with you as the game comes together, but for now please check out our trailer and some of the killer features in MotorStorm RC!

MotorStorm RC for PS Vita and PS3MotorStorm RC for PS Vita and PS3

Off-Road Racing on a New Scale

Conquer the most extreme racing environments in powerful radio-controlled vehicles, with hundreds of uniquely customized models to collect and performance based on 8 distinct racing categories: Buggies, Superminis, Rally Cars, Muscle Cars, Racing Trucks, Supercars, Big Rigs and Monster Trucks!

Four Classic Locations, 16 Unique Tracks

Experience the simultaneous challenge and excitement of racing in the world’s most extreme environments, from the dusty desert mesa’s of Monument Valley, to the dangerous jungles of a Pacific island, to the icy tundra at the Arctic Edge, to the apocalyptic ruins of an urban city.

Settle Rivalries Anytime, Anyplace

Challenge friends and the rest of the world to compete for the fastest times in every event – whether that’s on PS3 or PS Vita, or both.

Share Every Moment

Share every moment with your friends and make new friends via the Pitwall. Keep tabs on their activity – so you always know when there’s a new challenge or a new leader – and you can always stay one step ahead of the competition.

Four-Player Multiplayer on PS3

Settle the score with your friends in person with 4 player split-screen races.

Pay Once, Get Both

It’s the same experience on both PS3 and PS Vita, and picking up the game on PS3 will give you full access to the game on PS Vita (and vice versa) – so if you own both you can carry your progress between the two, and always pick up where you left off.

Players in the US can look forward to the release of Motorstorm RC on the PS3 and PS Vita next spring. We definitely will have more details to share throughout the coming months, so continue to check back here in the PlayStation.Blog!

This reminds me of R.C. Pro-Am for the NES. I am suprised other developers never tried to mimic what made that game so great so many years ago. It looks like a lot of fun.

Honey I Shrunk the Motorstorm!

Haha! Quite a twist on the the franchise! Looks real fun, and totally digging the features! 4 player local split-screen? Check!

And I get both PS3 and Vita versions when I purchase it? SOLD!
I seriously hope that more PSN games follow this model in the future!

Yes, I love the “Pay Once, Get Both” feature. I’m hoping a lot of cross platform PS3/Vita games adopt this format. Nothing like buying a title and knowing you can play it on the big screen and small screen whenever or wherever you want!

Exactly. it’s practically the same game so we wouldn’t expect you to have to pay twice. And we want you to get the most out of it on both PSVita and PS3.

Thanks for your support as always remanutd5.

The maps are 100% new; They’re set in the old-time locations. I like to think of it like this: “for every Festival there was an RC Festival”.

Lunatics unite, for old-times sake. :-D

1 purchase for both consoles is nothing short of brilliant. Thank god you guys are setting the standard for this, I hope more companies will follow. Will definitely be supporting this, show publishers/developers that doing this will sell you more copies!

Yes, more Motorstorm, the first franchise on the PS3 for me, way back when. You guys keep delivering the best racing games. Apocalypse was so cool, the industrial environment really grew on me.
Now you are making a game for the PS3/VITA oh this is so awesome. I can’t wait till next year, keep the good stuff coming.

Just make me a RC like the Duke boys car and all will be perfect!!!

WOW! that looks pretty radical. and the fact you pay once and get both games is just crazy! is this a model that is going to be implemented into many more PSVita PS3 crossover titles?

Awesome news guys, can’t wait to see more. You guys know how to deliver the best racing games. One of the first
new franchises for me on the PS3, and keeps getting better. Apocalypse was so cool, keep up the offroading.

Just make me a Duke Boys RC car and this game will be perfect.

Yes, there are several camera view-points but all of them are isometric and top-down.

Great Job!

It really looks like a great game!
Though I’m still hoping for the next full size MotorStorm game (I really hope it’s coming someday, and more like Pacific Rift than Apocalypse), this will be a great way to wait for that in my PS3 AND in my PSVITA!!!
LUNATICS UNITE!!!

Wait…..

“Pay Once, Get Both
It’s the same experience on both PS3 and PS Vita, and picking up the game on PS3 will give you full access to the game on PS Vita (and vice versa)”

SOLD. Motorstorm is one of the most solid, best racing games out there. The trailer for RC reminds me of that one racing game on PSN but I can’t remember the name.

+ Cjx324 on November 22nd, 2011 at 12:34 pm said:

Just One Question.
Will this be a top-down Racer, or the common view racer?
And if it is top down, is there a setting to change it to 3rd person driving?

I was hoping for this trailer to end like all the previous Motorstorm trailers, with a dismounted rider about to get royally flattened by a wrecking truck/monster truck. Just make the rider an action figure.

I am getting sick of this so its time I stood up and said something, it needs to stop, the first two motorstorms were amazing, I own, have played, and beaten them all, but the thing is that motorstorm was ment to be an offroad racing game, no storyline or nothing, just the festival, lots of dirt and mud, and some big rigs, but apocalypse is a disgrace to motorstorm, that’s why even though I own all of them, I and my friends still play Pacific rift to this day, that game knows whats its about, lots of huge offroad jumps and hard rock music like in flames and all that, but now look, now motorstorm looks like a childs game, PLEASE, do something about this….

@43 Ahhh c’mon man. Didn’t you ever play R.C. Pro Am 2 or Super Off Road for the NES? Those games were a blast (I’m totally going to go buy those carts right now). This looks like it could be a lot of fun. Is there still a ton of boosting? If not, there needs to be. High five everybody.
