Grace Chen's Avatar + Posted by Grace Chen on Jan 17, 2012 // Sr. Director, PlayStation Store

Hi Everyone -
With two big events starting today, new Uncharted 3 DLC, along with brand-new PSN Games and amazing new additions to the PS3 Full Game collection, we find ourselves with plenty of great content for this week’s PlayStation Store update. So let’s get to it!

blogheader_zachzero_150_011712

We start things off with and the PSN-exclusive Zack Zero. This gripping platformer contains more than 30 characters, 5 spectacular bosses and ever-changing levels. Help Zack Zero save his beloved Marlene, kidnapped by the evil Zulrog in an effort to obtain the powerful substance that will allow him to travel back in time. On the other end of the spectrum is Amy. From the original creator of Flashback, Amy delivers deep cooperative gameplay and a unique system that requires players to strategize in order to protect Amy and keep both characters alive.

In DLC news, the first multiplayer map pack for Uncharted 3 hits today with the Flashback Map Pack! Get 4 multiplayer maps for UNCHARTED 3: Drake’s Deception including “Sanctuary”, “Fort”, “Cave”, and “Lost City”. Download Flashback Map Pack #1 for UNCHARTED 3: Drake’s Deception. This map pack is included with your Fortune Hunters’ Club membership. In related PSN Game news, if you missed out some of the heavy hitters from 2011, you’ll want to check out the 12 for ’12 sale on now. Check out the full list of titles on sale now, and note that PlayStation Plus subscribers get even more of a discount on these amazing games.

The PS3 Full Game category sees a new wave of content including what many consider to be two of the greatest games of all time: ICO and Shadow of the Colossus; now available separately in HD for the first time.

To cap things off, PlayStation Plus subscribers are now the first to access the Public Beta for the highly anticipated third-person shooter Starhawk. Experience this fresh new take on online multiplayer combat in an experience that many believe will redefine the genre. Check the blog post for more info on the beta.

Pretty lackluster update. Eight new games? Normally that would be good but as it is all PS3 stuff its unbalanced. New PS1/PS1i/PS2/PSP/Mini/PCE games are where? The “12 for ’12″ sale is lame. Why is it the NeoGeo sale is only for the PS3 versions of the games? Man, PSP owners really can’t catch a break. What a snoozefest. The worst part of it is the extremely smug looking Carz 2 icon. :p

Yay new maps! Time to get back into Uncharted 3.

Can we please get a Castlevania: HoD game+dlc bundle for like $20. No way I’m gonna pay $43 for all of it knowing no one is gonna be playing the DLC because its too expensive.

…anyway, Deus Ex avatars? Are we getting them? Been on the EU store forever, any chance they’ll be released here?

No SD on Tester 3? The full episodes had better be available in SD for those of us without an HDTV.

The “12 for ’12″ sale is preposterous. Last year, the discount for games were 50% for EVERYONE. Plus users didn’t have any discount. Now you want us think plus offers better discounts? I was expecting a 70% discount for plus users, not the same discount we had last year because you know, if it was possible last year, why not this year as well?

As you can see, I am a Plus user.

I’ll post a link in my next comment to show proof, not this one because it will be in approval.

Why can’t we get the ICO/ SotC HD Collection as a bundle as promised?
The UK/EU Store has it, and at a discounted price (£19.99, or £13.99 separately)

Am excited to have them digitally, but not at the price you are offering, and not separately.

Other than that, picked up SidewayNY and Rocketbirds.

Let alone, why you take the time to sit at your computer waiting all day for the store to update just to criticize EVERY SINGLE WEEK.

Will we see more GREAT TRIPLE AAA TITLES from Playstation One Classics to make their way to PSN Store this year? I mean… Really, we need more of that – and that goes for PSP and Playstation Vita (Digital Games) as well?

Another update that doesnt look a bit interesting for my taste. It would have been nice to see a 12 for 12 on psp games, but you refuse to support the psp. i hope this wont be the case for the vita, but its not showing a good sign if you havent taken the psp seriously.

I’m sadden by the fact that ico/SotC is overpriced. 40$ for both games when i can get a physical copy of both games for about half the price (new). I dont see the point in getting the digital format of the game when its cheaper to get the physical. shouldnt it be the other way around?

Also if you haven’t already…

Get Dungeon Defenders! $7 is a good deal for a game that gives you a ton of playtime. I bought it for $15 and I think it’s the best $15 I ever spent on a DLC game (besides Fat Princess and Castle Crashers – both of which are worthy of the $15 price tag)

I also suggest getting Rocketbirds for $5, Sadly I got it when it came out and it feels worth the $5 (not $10) but I’m a sucker for games with a good idea on animation.

Not sure if I should get Pixeljunk Sidescroller or not.

I would be more than happy enough to pick up Payday the Heist. I would love to like the game but I played the demo and the movements felt sluggish for me and it felt a little hard (playing with CPU). Any thoughts? Maybe I should Re-download the demo and give it a second go?

I’ll also be saving $30 for both Gotham City Imposters AND Journey when they come out :)

@ Megamixer
For someone who has their avatar from the zen-like, peaceful game flOw, you sure have some anger issues.
My avatar says “Get the quack out! Don’t be so cheep!”

@24 If you had 25$ you could just buy the fortune hunters club.

Gamers are spoiled! There’s new games, sales on good games, digital releases of good games, demos of potentially good games, a beta for what undoubtedly will be a good game, DLC for a good game, and still people gripe. It’s as if all that was released this week was Pong: the Original Edition.

The only thing I can find wrong with this, if something must be pointed out (since that’s the cool thing to do here) is that there’s a Christmas theme for sale:
Christmas Dynamic Theme ($2.99)
- It’s January!

He bashes the Store updates every week, yet he has a total of 9 games on his trophy card. He is just a troll so ignore him.

Is this new Gran Turismo 5 DLC included in the GT5 XL Edition? Possibly part of the redeem code that is included in the game case?

Nice nice update. Saints Row 3 DLC is coming at just the right time for me. Add Cheapy D and Dungeon defenders for a great price, and that makes for a fine Tuesday. Might just put off the GT5 DLC for now since I have enough to do at the moment.

It’s too bad these updates suck so much for so many people. I imagine if they gave away Uncharted 3 on PSN for free, people would complain that the file is too big.

…and of course Megamixer would complain that it was not a new PS1/PS1i/PS2/PSP/Mini/PCE game out that same week.
