PlayStation Plus Instant Game Collection: Year One

With the upcoming launch of PlayStation 4, everyone here at PlayStation is hard at work preparing to deliver the best place to play — the absolute best gaming experiences imaginable.

As you heard at E3, PlayStation Plus will play a huge role in delivering amazing next gen online gaming experiences, while offering incredible value to members. With a single PlayStation Plus membership, you’ll get all of the benefits across PS4, PS3 and PS Vita, making sure you always have something fun to play and experience online with friends.

This week PS Plus has reached a milestone: the one year anniversary of the Instant Game Collection!

PlayStation Plus has been around for three years now, and make no mistake, we’ve always felt that it was a great value for gamers. But at E3 2012, when the Instant Game Collection made its debut, we knew that PS Plus was delivering something innovative, exciting and unique. It was evident in the passionate responses you had in communities around the web that you agreed. From our very own PlayStation.Blog and PlayStation Community, to gaming message boards like, to your comments on gaming sites like,,, we knew that you thought PS Plus presented a gaming service like nothing else out there.

Looking back, it’s easy to see the tremendous value PS Plus offers. In the first year of the Instant Game Collection alone, if you own both a PlayStation 3 and a PlayStation Vita, 64 games were included, including blockbusters such as Sleeping Dogs and Spec Ops: The Line.

We’re not stopping there. We’ve already started Year Two off with a bang with the announcement that #DRIVECLUB PS Plus Edition will be available in the Instant Game Collection at launch and one digital title will rotate in each month. We also debuted a powerful June lineup for PS3, including the introduction of three new marquee titles: Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception (single-player), Little Big Planet Karting and XCOM: Enemy Unknown. Up next: the July month outlook next week, which is not to be missed!

PlayStation Plus Instant Game Collection: Year One

Whether you’ve been a member since Day 1 or you’re a newcomer, we thank you for supporting PS Plus and the Instant Game Collection. If you have yet to take the plunge, now is a great time to take advantage of the incredible IGC games offered on PS3 and PS Vita – while ensuring you’re locked and ready for the PS4 this holiday season.

So that’s year one of the PS Plus Instant Game Collection! Which game was your favorite?

There is a movie section in the store is there not? Im talking about a few rentals a month and as a cinephile, I find immense replay value in a good movie. I find paying that much for a membership when I get a PS4 just so I can once in blue flipping moon get online infuriating

+ klassymike on June 30th, 2013 at 2:47 am said:

You’re definitely in the minority. Get a Netflix subscription and watch all the movies you want. There’s no place for them in PS Plus which is for gaming. I do agree with you about the online thing. I rarely play online myself, but I will still support Plus for it’s games and Cloud storage regardless.

+ occelot_ssnake on June 30th, 2013 at 3:05 am said:

Got Netflix and its become more of a TV series provider,Hulu+ sucks, would gladly use HBOGO,Sho,Xfinity,and/or Max if theyd ever get released on the PS3. A few rentals of NEW movies would make spending what I can barely afford worth it

+ klassymike on June 30th, 2013 at 3:23 am said:

I know what you mean about the money though. My Plus subscription ended yesterday morning and luckily I had a code from doing the quests in Playstation Home to add an additional 30 days to my subscription. It buys me time before I have to buy another years worth. The movies on the store seem over priced. I saw a reply from Morgan a while back saying that movies weren’t slated to be added anytime soon.

To anyone else who downloaded Saints Row: The Third with their PS+ Membership. Is it normal for PS+ to be downloading it twice? On my Download Management section right now I see two of the same versions of it downloading. Is that normal??? I already downloaded both, once already thinking it was a mistake, but went to redownload it again and both lil bubbles of the downloads popped up at the same exact 7333 MB!

Hope someone can answer this if it happened to you or know anything about it!

+ klassymike on June 30th, 2013 at 5:35 am said:

Saints Row 3 downloaded and installed fine for me. I haven’t seen anyone else having a problem with it. You should only need one of them, not both.

Just a reminder: For those of you who are looking to purchase a three month or one year PS+ subscription, Best Buy is still running special discounts for it’s Reward Zone Gamer’s Club. It’s free to join to Gamer’s Club. The three month card is one dollar off it’s normal price and the one year is ten dollars off the normal price. The special ran last week and I purchased another year membership. I’m surprised the special is still being offered. I purchased another three month card to push my subscription into the year 2022.

And for those of you who may not know…These PS+ subscriptions can stack, so purchase as much as you want to build up the length of your PS+ subscription. Best Buy is also offering discounts on the $10, $20 and $50 PSN cards.

Happy gaming, everyone.

Thanks for answering my previous question klassymike, but I have one more lol. So lets say i get PS Plus now and download Uncharted 3 from the IGC, how long will i have to play it? im guessing until they remove the game from the IGC but not too sure! Thanks in advance.

+ GMFCO311 on June 30th, 2013 at 7:27 am said:

@ #206 Ashraf369

Any games that you download are yours to keep for as long as you have the PS+ Membership, even if PSN takes those games out of rotation for IGC, they will still be there forever until you let your membership expire.

+ GMFCO311 on June 30th, 2013 at 7:32 am said:

@ #206 Ashraf369

Pinball arcade add-ons would be tempting if they were offered at a reduced in price as part of a future plus release.

Well done Sony!! Been a plus subscriber for over 2 years now. I recently bough my Vita a month ago and missed out on a lot of these free vita games. Hope to see them in the store again in the future.

+ SoupeAuxPois on June 30th, 2013 at 1:43 pm said:

You guys should definitely add to the service some great PSOne titles available on both PS3 and PS Vita, just like FF7. Think of it, there’s a huge potential to make gamers happy with those old-school titles :)

+ trum3n1 on June 30th, 2013 at 2:57 pm said:

We want BF3 like EU gets it. We also want to get all content at once at the beginning of each month like EU always gets it, not 4 updates – 1 per week like we always get it. Why is that anyway? You probably just want to give us more time to buy some games so you can put it after for free/discount to PS+, smart. Also we want to know what we are going to get at least a week before, like EU always gets it and not 1 day before an actual update.

Why are you treating us worse?
That’s just sad Sony.

@PrimeroIncognito You free to tell yourself whatever you want kid if you don’t like what I say you can either not read it or go find a short cliff and take a long fall either way I don’t care. I worry about the fate of this world when I see obsessed gamers and other people kissing corporate butt at every turn.

Awesome stuff guys keep it up.

@ DragonWolfJD

That was the best response you could come up with? Really?

+ Northstar77 on June 30th, 2013 at 9:45 pm said:

Thank You. Plus it’s by far one of the best deals in gaming. I do wish the number of systems games can be active on could increase for systems on the same network at least. I have 3 ps3’s in my home but sadly only 2 systems can run active at once but it is still very worth every dime. Every one should own a Vita that has had plus on PS3 I told all my friends to bank those games on PS3.

+ Machi_Mavz on July 1st, 2013 at 1:33 am said:

more power PS+ (playstation plus) im hoping and waiting for Catherine Wrath release XD

+ DragonWolfJD on July 1st, 2013 at 2:37 am said:

@PrimeroIncognito I don’t even know why I’m arguing with you it’s so stupid when it would be so much easier to say for me it is a useless service it seems for you it hasn’t been. But when you pay for something but nothing you can use comes out of it are you happy with it? I’m guessing no and I don’t believe anything is designed around me if it was things would be much different it’s designed around the general audience but that doesn’t mean I have to consider it useful or good (just like with individual games/series).

The only one I can speak for myself not for you, not for anyone else in my family, not for anyone else on here or anywhere else and that’s what I intend to do. If that fails to explain what I mean than I give up there is no way to make people understand.

Your view is yours and mine nothing will change that.

+ DragonWolfJD on July 1st, 2013 at 2:38 am said:

Wow I really need to stop typing when half out of it should say “Your view is yours and mine is mine nothing will change that.”

Where’s Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions in that survey? The best game ever from IGC!

I wonder If any games already released would make a comeback for new PS+ members.

+ Xx-Phoenix92-xX on July 1st, 2013 at 4:42 am said:

Can you add Final Fantasy 4: The Complete Collection sometime? Lol. I bought the physical copy when it was released for the pre-order bonus. Can’t play it on my Vita, and I’m not giving $20 for a game I’ve already given $40 for a little over two years ago… Or maybe something to where we can register Proof of Purchase numbers to redeem our physical PSP games so we don’t have to buy their digital version, too :/

I really don’t know why I didn’t had a PS3 before, but I remember that a great surprise was to find the PS Plus offer the first time that I entered the PS Store. With no double thinking, I purchased my subscription… Who will knew at that point that the ICG was released like a week before!!

+ Beebo8998 on July 1st, 2013 at 8:36 am said:

PS Plus is just amazing … Sony is way better than Microsoft :D <3 Gonna Pre-Order the Ps4 :) Thanks Sony for making us gamers always happy and experienced

+ arrownoir on July 1st, 2013 at 10:24 am said:

I loved almost all of them, i was only disapointed by two
I voted neither satisfied or dissatisfied for the ones that I still haven’t played yet

these are my fave ones ones that I first played on Plus…from the top of my Head
I loved Knytt Underground, Spec ops, Outland, Walking Dead, Sleeping Dogs,Malicious, Pac-Man, closure, Vanquish,Guardian of Light, Gravity Rush (already had it, but man is it good), Zero Escape

I had already purchased many of the others, but those are the ones that I first played on Plus and absolutely loved

All the games from plus have taken my entire TB HDD, never thought that I’d have to delete stuff on that HDD
Plus is amazing, keep up the good work

I know I’ll be a member for as long as it’s around

one reason ive got three PS4’s preordered

+ Doctor_Evil_2 on July 1st, 2013 at 12:58 pm said:

I got my Vita for Persona 4 Golden, but I’m definitely staying because of PS+ and the IGC. I’ve got my PS4 pre-ordered and look forward to cross-playing games on my Vita! However, as a defector from the other side, is there any value to “purchasing” the featured PS3 games that come up for the long-term? As I only have a Vita and will have a PS4. Will the PS3 games I digitally own play into the Gaiki service, or somehow let me convert some PS3 titles into playable PS4 versions?

I really don’t see how anyone complains after the proof of what has been given away for free over that last year.
lol …. 64 games!!! … that’s $0.78 per game …. that’s insanse.

I’m not all into fps, but complain about it? never I know something good will be here soon if not.

thanks for supporting the ps3, vita, and psp in the IGC.

RPG’s, tower defense, and indie games ftw =D

Great job guys…been a subscriber since Jan 2012 and I dont regret not even a lil bit and I’ll never let my Plus subscription run out….of all this games on the pic there was only 7 bad games..which I didnt picked.Shame on the games I already have as well but whatever…I’m very pleased with Plus….my favorites are the PSN only games that I wanted to buy and you guys gave them for free and also the disc-based games I didnt wanted to buy. Those are the best to see as a freebie.Keep it up the amazing work.

+ DieYoMoFo on July 2nd, 2013 at 10:52 am said:

And this is why PS+ pwns all. over $1000 per year of free games. Big titles & titles that I never would have thought about getting but end up loving.

You literally only need a PS3 and PS+ and you will never run out of games to play.

+ HunterRose76 on July 4th, 2013 at 2:31 pm said:

I am a little late to the PS+ party but I have been enjoying the heck out of it for the past two months. Thank you for the high quality line up of games.

To celebrate the 1 year anniversary of PS+ have you thought about any special releases or maybe a one week window where you open up all the previous games to meme ears who may have missed them?

+ DjFIL007 on July 4th, 2013 at 6:04 pm said:

Just bought a Vita… first Playstation device since original PSP launch. Did it just for the PS Plus Instant Game Collection. Too bad I joined too late to get access to Retro City Rampage (already play on PC), Jet Set Radio and Final Fantasy Tactics for Vita. But extremely happy with Wipeout, Uncharted & Gravity Rush… great way to star tmy PS Vita collection, and for only $50 to boot. Look forward to see what the future holds.

Hi there. I am about to get another PS3 and it comes with 1 year of Plus in the bundle. Will I be able to download any of the games from the Plus membership that were available in the past year? Or only the games moving forward? I hope that I can still download some of the previous available titles!
