@ashleytocool96 You need to factory reset your vita, format your memory card and log in with the account that has the minecraft. That’s the only way that I know. Also, you need to remove your vita from your devices in the account that is associated with the vita right now.

But the account that has it is my brother’s (I just figured that out) so I don’t want my vita to be forever associated with him if I do reset everything.
@ashley So you’re saying that the one that already have the PS3/Vita cross-buy is the one your brother is using? Then, it would be better if you bought it separately so if by ever you get a 2nd ps vita (in case the one you have right is broke), you can re-download it. I’m not sure though. I think that each game (purchased digitally) is only allowed to be download on two different devices (ps vita – ps vita; ps vita to ps3; and ps vita to ps4). After 2 devices, it would not be available for download on the third one. BTW, if you plan to play Minecraft on Vita, add me :D

Well it’s still showing up at full price for the PSVita version on both the PS3 and the PSVita for me, a PS3 Disc user. Only reason I got the PS3 disc was because my GF got it for me for my birthday. I wanted that Vita version, so I figured why not have both. I just opened up the PS3 package today and popped it in to make sure it showed up in my list because I figured that’s what they needed for it to register as a free download on the Vita.
@216 It should show up. I didn’t buy the retail version so I don’t know the reason why you are not seeing it. Hopefully, if that retail version is integrated with you’re account, it should make the digital for vita available.

Yeah, I bought the PS3 disc version 4 days ago, and vita version is telling me another $19.99.
I contacted Sony support at 800-345-SONY number. Got and agent and this is the extent of playstation support. Condensed, but you get the jist.
Me: cross buy doesn’t work. bought the game four days ago…still have valid best buy receipt.
Sony agent: log into your PSN, it’ll be there for free.
Me: tried that, rebooted, updated, relogged on. Still $19.99.
Sony agent: let me talk to my special support….special support says only the digital ps3 version is crossbuy.
Me: uh, no, it’s not. It’s on your own Sony forums site. (gave her link)
Sony agent: let me talk to special support again….special support says you need your voucher number that came in the box.
Me: there is no voucher that came with my game. Just one slip of paper telling me about Sony gaming/network/etc policy.
Sony agent: You need to contact your game manufacturer.
Me: others have reported their redemption working fine…it looks to be something with PSN registering my product. Why would I contact the manufacturer?
Sony agent: that’s all I can do for you. Do you need anything else?

So if you are a loyal Sony who upgrades at launch, you are penalized by this pricing setup. To get it you would have to wait an unknown time period for the vita version, then buy it before PS4 version.

I was fortunate enough to have bought the PS3 version prior to the PS4 upgrade, and could then get my Cross-Buy Minecraft on my Vita. However, this feels as if Sony (or whomever is in charge of this particular deal) is not properly supporting the PS4. I feel like it the PS4 is held in a separate category of consoles, but not one that gives the consumer any advantage unless they buy the older one first. Even if you own all three platforms, who would say to themselves: “I have $20.00, I can buy the normal Minecraft on PS3, or this significantly enhanced version on the PS4 for the same price.” and then chose the PS3 one? Quite a few people are stating that it’s the consumer’s fault for not reading up on it, but I disagree. As far as I know, this is the first time a game has been made available on all three platforms that is only Cross-Buy for the older ones. I could be wrong, though.

I’m also a PS3 disc owner who can’t download the Vita version.
After two long online chat conversations with customer support, they’ve promised to send me a download code for the Vita version. I had to send my proof of purchase (I sent a PDF of my Amazon.com receipt email) and they promised to give me a code entitling me to the Vita version within the next two days.
From what I gather, they meant for the promotion to only apply to players who played the game prior to August 8th. They failed to mention that in the blog post, though, so the ball’s in their court. Just be polite and patient with their customer service and you’ll eventually get what you want.

Dear sirs, this is quite upsetting. After 2 unhelpful chats, one phone call to support with dismal/incorrect/bogus statements, I was finally able to get a service representative that earned his pay and gave upstanding support. He reached out, admitted the problems involved from your end and supplied a resolution to credit a purchase to resolve a problem.
After thinking the entire situation has been fixed and that I no longer had to expend valuable time dealing with this again, you send me a message denying a valid claim and undoing the previous agent’s hard work.

And now you want me to prove I purchased a game by providing a receipt. Luckily, I bought mine 5 days ago and still have it. I feel bad for the unlucky souls who share the same issues I do with your promotion who bought their game ages ago and no longer have a receipt.
My receipt will be attached herein. On that receipt, you will find the purchase date, the ps3 copy I bought, as well as my name printed on the receipt from best buy.
To be frank, I find it this whole situation ridiculous and quite unprofessional. My experiences on this matter will surely be shared with others on my blog and incoming review of this game. Thank you for showing me that there is customer support that is worse than the support provided by square-enix.

I bought the PS3 disc so I could download the digital version on Vita yesterday…not spend hours today dealing with Customer “Support” only to find out I have to wait until next week.
I agree. This has been such a scam that I doubt I’ll ever get to play on Vita. As I said before, I got it for my birthday on October 7th for the PS3 thinking that I would have it for both systems. I just put it in yesterday ro play it so maybe it would trigger my PSVita to download. After buying it on Xbox 360, Xbox One, and now receiving it on PS3, I’m not spending another $20 to have it on Vita when I was told I would get it for free, and I’m now not going to upgrade to the PS4 version either.

So let me get this straight. If I purchased Minecraft for the PS3 (I do not own), I can get it for free on the Vita (which I do own), and if I purchase it on EITHER of those two, I can “upgrade” to the PS4 version for $5. However, since I purchased the “upgraded” version on the PS4 to begin with, I will have to pay another $20 to get it on my Vita???
However, if I had waited 4 weeks to get the Vita version, I would only have to pay $25 to have it on both the Vita and my PS4???

I was finally given my code for a free vita download. Afterwards, a high ranking sony representative contacted me and this is the issue. The promotion IS VALID for physical disc owners, but the system has no way to verify that you own a legit copy. That is the issue why it doesnt show up free for disc owners. Rep acknowledged that Sony is honoring the promotion and working to find a fix, but the problems comes from the verification process to reward legit owners. The solution for now, is that you WILL NEED TO PROVIDE PROOF THAT YOU PURCHASED IT FROM REPUTABLE SOURCE (i.e., not second hand/used).
Contact support and tell them this is the solution from management. Provide your proof of purchase and they SHOULD be able to submit the correct requisition to get you your free dload code. Some CSRs may still be in the dark about this, so bring them up to speed on what is to be done.
Yep, I just received my own digital code today. They were taking too long after I sent them the PDF of my Amazon receipt, so I contacted them again and it turns out they wanted a screenshot, not a PDF. Weird, because I’d think that’s less legit of proof, but I sent it and a day later I got my code.
So yeah, it sucks, but if it isn’t showing up for free in the store, the only option is to contact customer support, like voh1wally said.
