PlayStation.Blog Goes Mobile

230 12

You may recall our short outage last week; we were messing around with the servers here at PlayStation Central Command. By doing [whatever it is the engineers have done], we’ve enabled some new functionality. Reading the comments, a few of you have figured it out – the PlayStation.Blog is now mobile compatible.

The next time you head over to the blog from your PSP, Blackberry, or iPhone (or probably whatever mobile device you’re running, assuming it’s newer than a Star-tac), you’ll see a specially formatted, easy to read (and load!) version of the Blog. You can even comment; now you can tell us what you think from the comfort of your office restroom!

There’s no special URL to go to, just hit up the normal https://blog.us.playstation.com address, and our patented Internet Gnomes will do the rest. Please let us know if you’re experiencing any compatibility issues, and we’ll flog the Gnomes a little harder. It’s ok, they deserve it :-)

  • Awesome works great in my g1

  • great! i can even post comments now on my mobile device!

  • This is working pretty well on my iPod touch right now. Its a nice loadout =o
But for some reason i think you guys should a little more PSN type flavor into everything “Playstation”. The Playstation store type look is what I think about when I hear PSN (or anything that has to do with it). I think it’d be great to have the blog and stuff have the same style. Blue could be your new black.

  • u guys should make a psblog app for the iphone/ipod touch!

  • I think the native iPhone app is a great idea! Maybe even add PSN functionality, such as compare trophies, and such.

  • I would pay at least 1.99 for a PSB iPhone app!!! :D

  • Hey Jeff and PSB staff. This comers as an answer to my prayers. Only issue i have though is that i can not log in to my account with you from my Blackberry Storm. Only other thing is if there will be a PSB App for download. Would love to Pimp Out my Home Screen with the had. Thanks for the time!

  • thank you sony for not putting this guy as a sales manager
you would end up in worse shape then you already are, and community wise he aint all that either.
yes i’m happy for all mobile devices out there that can access this site now, but you don’t seem to realized (and that doesn’t surprise me) that instead of promoting a sony device on a sony website, you went with an apple device, someone commented if there will be support for the HD Zune, and the response to that was arrogant, please tell me why it would be ok to promote apple here on the blog and not ok for zune?

  • cool but I do not have this :P

  • Jeff,
i’d definately be interested in a Playstation app for the iphone. I just got mine last week and am having fun loading it with aps.

  • This is a step, but come on playstation. Make us an app for the iphone! I know it’s the competition against sony phones but u might as well make money and create a better user community. An app would just do that! Please make a playstation app!!

  • Awesome!! I wanted to check out the blog a couple months back on my HTC Touch Diamond and it was quite the pain trying to view it. Having to scroll through at a full page on a tiny screen, LONG loads, etc. Now it looks and runs great. Awesome Job!! Now if only more sites can make a phone happy site. Here’s looking at you NHL.com. :P

  • Would it be possible for you guys to share the code which allows use to use psn to sign in here with the forums? So we can go on them with our mobile devices?

I posted a topic on the forums here:http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/board/message?board.id=psp&thread.id=3458152&view=by_date_ascending&page=1

  • Awesome! I have been waiting for the time when I can view this blog without rendering problem on my PSP browser. Thanks, man! ^^

  • I find it funny how the people who runs the blog use a picture of an apple product “iPhone”. When nothing by Sony works with Apple. LOL

  • I wouldn’t mind Apple & Sony teaming up, if only for increased chances of an App Store on the PSP. They also have a mutual enemy in Microsoft…

    Let’s do this thing!

  • Can you guys hire me for making a PSB app on the iPhone?

Please. I want to join the non-sleeping world. jeje =)

  • Jeff, I have a team that will commit to making a Playstation app for the iPhone a success.

  • Hey you should also make a chat room
which is 24/7. I would love to speak to PS fans at anytime.

  • APPLE + SONY = SOFTWARE & HARDWARE EXCELLENCE!

  • AWESOME! Checked it out just now on my Blackjack II, now i can stop using Mippin. THANKS YALL…

  • Works great on my HTC G1. I go through the site on lunch often via my phone, so this is a nice addition. I would love to see a PS app that used barcode scanner to build a list of all your PS games, or an app for Trophies. Mobile Trophy card/app! iPhone & Android market please!

  • Sweet, now if only the PS3 web browser worked better. Like if it was WebKit based or something.

And if only PS3 had Cross Game Voice Chat, PS2 BC, Party Features, and ability to stream internet music.

    Wow that would be cool.

  • Does it support Android?

  • Commenting from my iPod, nice

  • Havent tried the mobile site since this morning, but logging in doesn’t work on my Blackberry Storm 9530’s browser. It leads me to the actual login page for the desktop site

  • I get this on my psp slim “Communication with the server failed. A DNS error has occured. (80410410)”

  • Shoulda had a pic of a Blackberry, not an IPhone … but I will forgive this simple mistake.

    Good optimization!!

  • I like to read the news you post on my iPod touch, but the videos seem to always be in flash format. Since iPhone/iPod can not view flash content, any way for the iPhone/iPod users to view those videos? YouTube maybe? (sorry if the question has already been asked)

  • I can’t seem to view the site through my PSP… keeps timing out. Is there a work around?

  • Please.. all the people not reading everything. Jeff already explained that the reason why he’s using the iPhone immage is because more people use iPhones to visit the blog than any other mobile method.

  • well that’s a lame excuse, and i totaly aggree that more people are using the iphones browser because it is way more usable then the psp’s browser for sure, maybe if you guys fixed the psp’s browser, more people would use it instead
jeff, your focusing on the wrong things, instead of looking into creating apps for the iphone, how about creating some apps for the psp?

  • Can’t seem to connect to it through my PSP. Please fix ASAP!

  • hey jeff, iv got a question… i want to clean my ps3 from dust (inside), my fan comes on about 10 minutes after start up and i feel that the dust might be causing it a bit… i wanted to ask u the best way to clean it cuz i dont really trust anyone on youtube to tell me how to do this to my important investment lol, i would rather it be someone who works for sony, thanks man hope u can help

  • Errr iphone image 414×770…probably the largest image I have ever seen on the PSBlog. Perhaps you could have chosen 5 of the top phones in the world and had 100×200 or something.

My Nokia 5800 shows everything no problem and supports Flash Lite 3.1 so why not show more love for other mobile systems? Symbian, WinMo, Android, etc. To the iphone users begging for an iphone app, instead you should be asking for an app…every big cell phone provider has app stores.

I understand you might currently have more mobile users from iphone usage but if you introduce better compatibility to others, don’t you think they might start browsing?

Anyways, I have bookmarked the site and will now view while sitting in my office restroom. Normally its only video viewing to pass the time better but I will find time to read the blog.

  • I agree; A Playstation Blog app would be amazing. At the moment i have a blog icon on my iPod Touch that simply links to the blog.
It’s fine. And actually, now that this new mobile thingy is all up and running its perfect…

But an official app would be pretty awesome. :D

  • Please, really PLEASE come up with a Windows Mobile version as well. I have the idea that WinMo is always the latest to get something…

  • Thanks! I am always on my PSP, now I have one better reason to!

  • I can not seem to sign-in onto the PlayStation Blog from my PSP?
    I get this Message?
We were unable to process your request. Pleae try again. If this problem persists, please contact SCEA Consumer Services.
    What should I do?

  • YES!!!! FINALLY!!!! =D

  • the PSBlog is great like this! are there plans to make the other pages* mobile friendly? *[PS Homepage or Forums]
