  • I did not see Ad hoc Party on the list.

  • WOW, so many of you people are just losers of the lowest order. Along with being totally uninformed gamers.

Stop crying to Sony about Trine. It’s not coming until it works on PS3. Is that Sony’s fault or the developers? If your answer is Sony, that’s confirmation that you’re a retard.

Same goes for Fallout DLC. BETHESDA said some time in September….September just started you ingnorant twerps.

If you don’t like the price of the animated themes…don’t buy them. I’m not. I did download the free one from Japan though, But I don’t use it. I only like theme with 100% custom icons. I MUCH prefer user made themes for free than ANY of the paid themes. Custom icons FTW. I hope the theme creator gets updated to support dynamic themes.

I DO want new avatars as well, but you fools don’t have to make idiots of yourselves about it. Have some dignity for god’s sake. What I want for avatars is the ability to use up to 3 of any trophy you’ve unlocked.

Grace….when is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles TiT Reshelled coming to PS3? I can’t buy anything off PSN until that comes out.

  • Why aren’t Dynamic theme’s free?
The whole point of Theme’s is for advertising purposes! they should be free.

    Your turning into micro$oft Sony!!

  • Cool update. Glad to see more PSone Classics. It’d be really cool to have dynamic themes as music visualizations.

Add Old Snake smoking as a dynamic theme and life will be complete, lol.

  • Sony, the best company or the worst enemy? How Do it Know? lol

  • Just blown away by how long new avatars are taking. Why is this so complicated exactly? A timeline should have been defined before this was announced. Nearly three years of the same avatars = unusual.

  • @Grace Chen

First I’d like to say thank you for actually applying some comment responses. It’s good to see you participating on the blog that helps us feel like we’re apart of the PlayStation experience. It’s much appreciated.

Second, I notice Fate/Unlimited Codes is on the store on day one. Can we see about getting more UMD’s to day to date before October? I know it’s only a month away and this is mostly for the PSP GO. However as a PSP users I’d still like to buy some (not all) of my games like Soul Calibur Broken Destiny from the store. Fighters are great on the go or anything with multiplayer and I like to keep my options open.

So could you see about getting SCBD on the store soon and see if Namco would be willing to get Tekken 6 on the store as well?

Oh and a Heavenly Sword and KZ2 dynamic theme would be awesome ^^

  • Yes! a very good week :D just wondering is there anyway to separate the games you buy over PSN and the demos(i.e making two different folders for each)????

If not please Sony make it happen :)

  • So when will Lumines supernova get its supposed price drop?

  • btw Grace, the capcom bundles are not on the store (the art is there but when you click they do nothing)

  • Why is it taking so long for us to get PSone games on the PSN? Japan has almost 4 times the amount that we do, when are we going to get some love?

  • They release Coolboarders 3 when they have much better first party PS-One titles that could be released. It’s an insult to our intelligence, especially gamers who were adults when the original PlayStation was still at retail.

  • So we’ll see a huge update on the PSP game store on October 1st, right? Right???

  • One thing I’m curious about. Will there be more free dynamic themes? Or will they be extremely rare?

Or is that up to the devs who create the themes (I’m assuming they’re dev-created)?

  • How about some free dynamic themes? $2 is too much. Reward us for all the map packs and content that should have been on the disc in the first place!

  • Wow no NHL 2k10 demo? 2k is gonna get smoked badly this year since EA has had a demo out a week now and less than 15 days till launch of both hockey games.. 2K did aalot of new stuff with there hockey game this year and not gonna show if off in a demo is suicide not a goos start if 2k wants a piece of the hockey market.. I will be playing nhl10 mostly anyways but still lol

  • When are we getting new avatars?!?!?! ;(

  • I bought the Monsters dynamic theme.. It really sucks.. I loved the one theme in the forest one, Ive had that as my theme since it first came out. So I thought for sure this one would be good..

Its not really dynamic at all.. so they need to change the name. Its basically a video playing in the background, it does not change based on any sort of variable (time of day, angle of sixaxis, etc). As for the actual theme though, its not that good.

The icons are the same as the ‘forest one’ I usually have and they brought the ‘sounds’ back from their previous themes which is why I hate those ones, which is why I love the ‘forest one’ since it doesnt use annoying ass sounds.

Its basically just the hut guy walking around in the forest. Theres no monsters, no baby hut guys, no coins, no sixaxis capability, just a video of the dude walking back and forth and will pop up in front of the screen now and then.

I rate it 3/10. And I am going back to the original ‘normal theme’. So far, waist of money. Not buying any more unless they have previews of them and descriptions on what makes them dynamic.

  • Common no more stupid updates, no more DLC for pain that game is dead, dont put the option of the new avatars if us dont are going to put it, stop saying fake things sony!

  • How and where do I renew my Qore subscription? There is nothing I can find to renew.. anywhere

  • Thanks for Fate/Unlimited – cool game. Hope to see more full PSP games as we move closer to digital downloads on October 1st with the PSSGo.

Regarding the dynamic themes; it would be cool to see a preview trailer before purchasing – as others have said, it’s a little odd to purchase something without seeing it first.

Also, could Sony make an official dynamic theme request link somewhere; I’d like to see a Canadian themed one, i.e., flying canadian flag, etc.

    Thanks

  • PLEASE

    Dissidia

    Soul Calibur PSP

We need them digitally oh so much–please oh lord–I am getting a PSP Go day one so I need these downloads ASAP—Fate is nice but 3 PSP fighting games is better than 1 and I have the $ for you in my PSN account just waiting to be spent!

  • WHY are you doing this to me!? Why would anyone want COOL BOARDERS!?

You guys announce Capcom releasing a ton of games- and it’s just that old school crap- they VERY next day!

I’ve been sitting on this $20 PSN Card for MONTHS- Waiting for you guys to deliver Dino Crisis and RE3!!!

    WHEN, I ask you! WHEN!?

  • Some free dynamic themes would have been nice since that was the only interesting thing from the update, well at least we are getting some free avatars right??? adding something as simple as avatars is taking AGES. =(

  • i can’t believe I am 8 Cents short on being able to buy Battle Tanks. I honestly wish the taxes were applied when I buy the card. 8 cents and now I have to go spend $20 on another card just to avail of 8 cents. wonderful. maybe the cards should be loadable with money to an amount the BUYER wants to use.

    8 friggin cents…..

Add Old Snake smoking as a dynamic theme and life will be complete, lol.

    ^^ What he said. X100000

  • True that, Koji Pro!

    Snake smoking OWNS LBP!

  • Can I get a preview of these themes please?

  • Sony,

Uncharted crashes as of the new firmwire 3.0

Also, please let us take the Playstation Store Icons off of Game and Video in the next update, and have the old font options.

    Thanks

  • I look forward to Pain updates myself. Me and my friends still have a blast with it. It’s come a long way since its initial release.

In other news, I can’t believe the level of whining here. I especially like listening to people who make immature comments, and then follow them up with shock and dismay when Sony ignores them. Place seems to be full of kids who want to complain about their lack of empowerment.

One thing you might notice is that Sony does respond on the rare occasions when someone makes a polite comment which brings up an intelligent point which Sony has not actually addressed before.

Note that this is when commenters actually brought up a good point. Not just when they themselves think they’ve brought up an amazing revelation.

I mean… I’ll bet Sony would be shocked to discover gamers want cross game chat. *rolls eyes*

  • @131

SCEA doesn’t give a rat’s a** about the quality assurances of the customers. All they want is two things: money and pissing us fans off for teh epic lulz.

    SCEA=F**KING TURDS! >:(

  • @132, And yet you keep coming back for more.

  • Nice update, but no Critter Crunch :<
Oh well, there's always next week. *sigh*

  • WOW big surprise no Fallout 3 Broken Steel. Let me guess its been push back another 3 months.

  • SUPER PACK? ZOMG /**SEIZURE*

  • I just cannot rationalize paying $2 and $3 for themes on PS3. They serve no purpose other then to be there as decoration for the xmb, i dont spend enugh time in the xmb to make $2 or $3 make sense.

I got the Afrika Dynamic theme for Free and its beautifull, Very cool with the zebras and all; but i definitely would not pay $3 for it. Maby $1 but not more.

    Why?

Because all it is is an animated wallpaper. 3D or not, thats all it is.

    ——————————-

One question about Dynamic Themes. Is it possible for the devs of these themes to include some form of interactivity, like a loco roco Dynamic theme that reacts to the sixaxis?

I might pay $3 for a theme that was also a minigame.

  • Hi I know this may be off topic, but I recently acruired the YLOD and my ps3 no longer works..

Is there any way I can diactiviate my account from my PS3 without having to call consumer services? Im thinking of buying a slim.

  • @Grace Chen

“We don’t have specific timing on these yet, but they will come.” (regarding Avatars)

I’m sorry to be rude, but you’ve got to be kidding me. First, you release a firmware said to be “major” when the only “major” it turns out to be is a major inconvenience, giving us minor new features, ads spammed across our faces, and an ugly new “redesigned” friendlist (if adding a gray box is what you call redesigned).

Now, probably the biggest feature for that update (yeah, I know, we’re calling it “big” when it’s the simplest thing we should’ve had three years ago) cannot even be accessed because we have no freaking avatars to download.

I can only wait to see how many are released a week. One to three maybe. Microsoft’s throwing out tons of themes and gamerpics each week.

I have both console and I seem to play on LIVE more (friends are there) but Sony has a lot of great exclusives out and coming out, but they really need to get their act together with this PlayStation Network.

  • oh man fate is 30 dollars
i thought it would be like 20
damn nowi have to wait even longer to get it

  • Y’know WoolySpud makes alot of sense in his post. If the themes are supposed to be Dynamic (buzzword of the year) then shouldn’t they also be interactive and also Is this coming to the psp? Old and Present.
I agree the Afrika Theme is quite pleasing to the eyes. Weird the Japanese Store gets the Best of PSN but their Home really bites. Except for their Beach…

  • if anyone out there has fate and like to share there account with me
    i would be greatful
i only want the game i square i will not do anything else before asking

  • @133

Was I talking to you, no? Get out of my face.

Seriously, SCEA, you want some mature constructive criticism? No profanity laced with it? Ok…

Listen to your customers and fans for once. Don’t just put random stuff in the PSN store and automatically assume everyone is going to buy it. (I.E. the SPEC OPS and Cool Boarder games.) Everyone knows those games suck, why put it up?

There is your mature criticism, happy?

  • jipmg if you have a psp or know someone with one, I’m pretty sure you can deactivate it that way.

  • -dynamic themes need a preview function. i suggest a preview button that streams a quick ‘trailer’ clip of what it looks like. it should include day/night footage too if the theme supports such a function.

-it would be nice if dynamic themes were free sometimes. ie: god of war 3 theme free during the game’s launch week, or codes to get free themes with preorders.

-i don’t understand the whining about not being able to make your own dynamic themes. seems too much of a headache and risk to have to code a ps3-specific application, essentially, which you’d have to bug test and troubleshoot to make sure it won’t kill your- or other people’s ps3.

-glad we are getting so much content these days, but it seems like PSN download games are following the footsteps of retail games, not leaving us without demos. (as a non-sports game player, seeing a sports game demo every single week is quite annoying)

-keep those ps1 games and ps3 collections coming! (ie: god of war 1/2)

  • still wating to be able to sort my download list. i don’t want to go through hundreds of my downloads to look for something. at least let us delete items from our list that shouldn’t be there, like demos or make it so demos don’t show up on the list

  • I sure wish there would be a few free dynamic themes. I like the sparkly one but would be cool to have a few more like that one for free.

Also, would be awesome if it was more connected to the music and moved with it and another color for it besides purple when you use it as the visualization. :)

Oh, and you guys need to make one that is a recreation of the awesome crystal clock on the PS2! Would be wicked!

  • Why the hell is this blog post rated 2.5?! (ya I know ppl still mad about 3.0) This is a good update.

  • How about some dynamic themes that use the playstation eye? Something akin to those mesmerize demos. My playstation eye just sits there it needs something to do. Something cool, non-game related that would work in a home theater environment.

  • good update.
