God of War fans –

I’m pleased to share some exciting news involving our favorite Spartan warrior. Fresh off his incredible run in God of War III, Kratos will be coming back to PSP and PSPgo in God of War: Ghost of Sparta!

The last time we saw Kratos on the portable platform was in God of War: Chains of Olympus, a game that coupled stunning visuals with stellar gameplay and is still the highest rated PSP title of all-time on Metacritic.com. So what can you expect this time?

First of all, it’s developed by Ready At Dawn Studios, in close collaboration with SCEA’s Santa Monica Studio, so we have the same talented team that brought you Chains of Olympus — they know the franchise and know what it takes to create an amazing game. I can also tell you from
first-hand experience that we are pushing the limits of what PSP can do with state-of-the-art visual technologies, higher resolution environments, and greater depths of scale. We’re also providing over 25% more gameplay, an improved weapon system, and new magical powers — all enjoyed anytime, anywhere.

Here are a few screens to give you a taste of the action…

As for the storyline, this new adventure will serve as a prequel of sorts, picking up where God of War left off. Ghost of Sparta tells the story of Kratos’ ascension to power as the God of War. In his quest to rid the nightmares that haunt him, Kratos must face his dark past to prove his worthiness to the Gods — a journey that will reveal the origins of lost worlds and finally answer long-awaited questions about Kratos’ tattoo, scar, and family.

Well, that’s all I can tell you right now, but we’ll have plenty more to share as we move closer to E3 and our release later this year, so stay tuned for more God of War: Ghost of Sparta news and be sure to keep an eye on SpartansStandTall.com and http://forums.godofwar.com for updates.

  • Awesome News!!

  • YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!!!

  • Wait….what????

Also, Spartans Stand Tall.com hasn’t been updated. Was it this?

  • yay…great…now WTF is with no Stimulus Package yet?

  • those screens look DAMN good….you sure they aren’t from the PSP2 ;-)

  • Wow, great news :D

  • yeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah more gore

  • Chains of Olympus was a really terrible game. Stupid story, totally horrific voice acting, and yo check it my PSP don’t RUMBLE, so. Severely lacking in the combat department.

So is Ready at Dawn like the Bungie of PSP developers? Of course not. Bungie makes good games.

  • Edit about my first post…guess I didn’t read to the end before I checked the website. Still though, super pumped!

  • Can I have it now?!

  • the only appropriate response to this is hell yeah :)

  • Is that Atlantis in the first screenshot?

  • Dice_for_Death_

Very nice. Looking forward to picking this one up. I love starting my mornings on a bit of good news.

  • Interesting…hope it doesn’t contradict the overall story (of course, I didn’t think the story was anything amazing to begin with)

  • A very, very good reason to buy a new battery for my PSP. :D x)

  • FANTASTIC NEWS!, i loved the öne allready PSP but yes i do prefer the trilogy over the psp one but still awesome!.

i wish we get chains of olympus and ghost of sparta on ps3 too , in a remake or even a port!.

anyway, you have a sale here and as soon as i see a release date i will order it.

  • @9 Who pissed in your cheerios this morning? If you didn’t like it, then don’t play it.

Thank you for supported the PSPgo with this game. Looking forward to another good adventure with Kratos.

  • PSP Sucks. More God of War on PS3 please!

  • those screens look amazing.

  • is game being built to take advantage of dual thumb sticks.for the new psp system.

  • SpartansStandTall.com = God of War: Ghost of Sparta (PSP)?

With MGS: Peace Walker and now this, looks like I have a reason to rebuy a PSP.

  • Welcome back to PSP Ready At Dawn, you guys have been missed. Happy to see another God of War title coming to the PSP and I can’t wait for it’s release.

    @9
Are you sure you didn’t pick up a cheap knock off of god of war COO from one of those mall kiosks. Chains of Olympus was an excellent game. Voice acting was on par with the PS2 releases, visuals were stunning, the Combat was very much intact (Play the game on God mode you won’t say it was lacking), and the story was damn good for a portable version.

Bungie is also severely overrated and one could contest that there titles are not that good. Bungie is a decent company and I’d gladly hold Ready At Dawn in the same category if not higher than Bungie.

  • @maver1ck89

Don’t you mean Bungie copies and pastes their last game and calls it a new one?

I’d hardly call that good games, especially in the advent of newer FPS that trounce the dated games they create.

    Anyway, back on topic.

You guys weren’t kidding about upping the graphics on the PSP. Those shots look amazing.

  • Holy jeez, I think it’s safe to say that this looks better than God of War 2.

  • Siick. From what I played of Chains of Olympus, it was a very solid game and hopefully this game will top it. Maybe I’ll actually finish a PSP game for a change.. I always get bored and end up playing PS3 instead haha.

  • This reminds me I got to play Chains of Olympus.

  • Hell yeag

  • @5 I don’t know why you’re in such a hurry to spend $15 on a small map pack. You could take that money and buy some really cool PSN titles. But to each his own. And if you look at yesterdays post, you would know that map pack is coming later today. Keep in mind that as me posting this at 9:18est, that means it’s 6:18 pst ar& the SCEA office. Give them time you’ll get your DLC later today

as for the topic at hand. Very cool announcement but I really hope there’s some GOW3 dlc in the pipeline as well

  • would be nice if we could play this (and all PSP games really) on the PS3 and on the GO with PSP.

  • Oh my god! Oh my god! seriously there are too many good games coming out on the Sony platform…I cant keep up with this!

  • Also I thought Ready ar& Dawn turned in their PSP dev kits like a year ago because they wanted to focus their efforts toward other platforms. Glad to see they changed their minds

  • The game actually looks amazing for a PSP title. To bad I don’t have a PSP any longer. :(

  • * sigh * if they don’t announce a new psp at E3 I’m going to buy one just to play this!

  • I can wait another year for another psp, anyways I wasn’t a fan of GoW but I purchased and finished GoW 3 and now im hooked.

  • holy crap! this is awesome news!! i thought Ready at Dawn was done with PSP development. What happened!!!

anyways, GOW:COO was awesome on the PSP, i expect the same out of this game as well.

  • Ecstatic and beyond happy with this news! One gripe though. When Ready at Dawn posts these pics of the game, they’re uprezing it to 1080p so it looks beyond anything we’ll ever see on our PSP’s. They did that with Chains of Olympus too. Also, isn’t the the title for this one the same as the GOW cell phone game that came out a couple years ago?

  • Kratos is back!!!….twice in the same year uh, awesome!!!

  • For the love of God, Dont charge $40 for the downloadable version of this.

I really hope you change the pricing structure of the PSP(both systems and games) by the time this releases.

  • PSP2 launch title please?

  • This is the best news I’ve heard in a long time. Thnx

  • Wasn’t Kratos made the God of War at the end of the original? Or was it my imagination that he was sitting on the throne? Or that Athena gave him new blades?

All I ask is for consistency with my gaping plot holes.

  • You cant have plot consistency when every game has a differnt creative director and they make several changes to the story on the fly.

I expect Kratos’ brother who was completely scrapped a long while ago to be picked up off the cutting room floor and shoehorned into this game.

For once, I want someone developing a trilogy to stick to the original idea and follow it through to the end so that the whole thing makes sense.

  • soundandvision77

Amazing news! Chains of Olympus looked so good. How can they possibly top it with Ghost of Sparta? Glad to see Ready at Dawn making a comeback to the PSP. Sony must have convinced them that they still want to support the platform with great exclusive titles. So what should Ready at Dawn develop next for the PSP? Can you say, UNCHARTED!!!

  • first day buy!!!

  • not happy!, i knew it was gonna be a new psp title. i don’t own a psp and don’t plan on getting one either. really hope they port it to ps2 or ps3. or make psp games playable on ps3 like the “minis.” hope we at least get some decent dlc for gow 3!

  • This is gonna be good!

  • Amazing! Best news of the month!!!!!

  • D:

    No way. xD Awesome!
