Thank you for your patience and encouragement over the last few weeks. As covered in the post from earlier today, you can now update the firmware on your PS3 and change your password. Kazuo Hirai just announced that we have begun the phased restoration by region of some of the services, starting with online multiplayer functionality.
Please note that these services will take a bit of time to be turned on and rolled out to the whole country. The process has begun and some states are being turned on now, so please be patient as we reach your city and state. We’ll be updating the map below as service comes online in individual states. It will take several hours to restore PSN throughout the entire country, so please keep checking back for the latest updates. In the meantime, now’s a great time to get your PS3’s firmware updated, which is required to get online.
Notice: If your state is illuminated but your service has not yet been restored, please be patient – it can take a little while for the servers to populate fully.
Until we get the comments functioning correctly, we’re putting all comments on hold. I’m sure Jitender would appreciate not having people put words in his mouth ^_^
In the meantime, we’ll keep updating the map, and those of you already back online – enjoy some games!
Dose anyone know when the psn store is going to be up ????
I can care less after seeing monster hunter 3 coming to ps3. My prayers have been answered. aleaked internal memo for devs said store will be up tuesday. take it as you will. Im just as frustrated believe me. I imported my psp with monster hunter 3 and want to adhoc but need to download the software from store. Been 3 weeks of waiting almost 4 now.

i have a nintendo wii, an xbox 360 and a psp so no one can call me elitist or fanboy, i was seriously contemplating purchasing a ps3 before the hack, may the !@#$%^& have a long series of nasty deceases, but after seeing the utterly pathetic way sony has handled this issue and the overwhelming lack of information and feedback, not to mention the cojones sony had for not securing the databases with the best measures (their lives if thats what it took, its gorram credit card card info!, thank god i only use psn cards microsoft points cards and wii cards) i will burn the remaining credit in my wallet, maybe buy the 3rd birthday and then sony can forget about my money for a long while if ever….

it kinda bad that the store is still down because i kinda play the demos before i buy a game to make sure it does not suck but seeing how its been down for a while i have not bought a game for a while
The huge amount of people asking for a statement for when the store is comming back up, yet we haven’t seen any statement on that subject for the past week. People are really saying “Hey sony, when can I give you money again?” and you fail to reply with even “We’re doing this..”, “It will be about 3 months” or even “We don’t have a clue”.
Sony has a very, very loyal fan-base and the community surely appreciates the very generous identity theft compensation, as well as the “Welcome back”-pakage.
I know that you’re doing your very best at solving this as it is and Patrik Seybold has done, what in my oppinion is, everything that is humanly possible to communicate an intrusion and crime made against his company.
But please give us an update about when the Playstation Store will once again be up and running.
Is the reason the store isn’t up because all the funds in our wallet are GONE and Sony can’t do anything?

I too would like the store to be back online, as there are a few things I have already planned on purchasing prior to the intrusion (been sitting on a $20 PSN card since Easter). This “he said, she said” crap about when the store will be back online is a bunch of BS. At least give the people a planned date. To date, we have only gotten our information from third party sources. Would be nice if we got some sort of clue from Sony, but then again with the whining that is going on here and other blogs about the topic, I can understand why they are standoffish. I personally would not want to be the one that says “The store will open tomorrow.”, and then when that date is not met, have to give some sort of reason as to why to the user base.

I am not even worried about the “free” games. I purchased Hulu Plus, to stream to my PS3, just before the network went down and since I cannot access the store, I cannot download the Hulu application.

Way too much whining from supposed loyal PS customers, be thankful Sony doesn’t end up going belly up losing millions to put out customer appreciation the ungrateful users and billions due to the earthquake and tsumami.

Thanks Sony. I am very happy to know that my services were restored and that I couldn’t have asked for better updates on the progress. I was always aware of what was going on and I am glad PSN is almost fully back up.

Been wanting to download some PSOne classics, bonus DLC for LA Noire, and activate some online passes. Starhawk and Twisted Metal are great, but I sure miss the Store.
