PlayStation Store Update

Grace Chen's Avatar Posted by Sr. Director, PlayStation Store

Hi Everyone –
Coming to the PlayStation Store this week is a new category called PS3 Full Games for games that were previously disc only but are now available to download on PSN. Not only will this make it easier for you to find those larger previously disc-only experiences, but you’ll also find DLC, add-ons, demos, and any other content associated with games in this category all housed in the same area once you click on the respective game. Games that are developed and exclusively available via download are now in the newly created PSN Games category.

Kicking off the new PS3 Full Game category is the release of Red Dead Redemption and the Undead Nightmare Collection. You can either download these 2 standalone titles separately, or save some money and pick up the bundle including both Red Dead Redemption (Full Game) and its zombified expansion Undead Nightmare Collection (Add-on). All Red Dead Redemption content is 30% off, or snag a 50% discount if you’re a PlayStation Plus subscriber.

In PSN Game new releases; check out Jurassic Park – The Game, from the episodic masters of gaming: Telltale Games. This 4 episode experience brings gamers back to Isla Nublar to deliver a new take on the Jurassic Park experience. If you took advantage of the Plus subscription offer from a few weeks back, you’ll find a voucher code to download Jurassic Park (all 4 episodes) waiting for you in your PS3 inbox.

Additional new PSN releases this week include Burgertime WorldTour, After Burner Climax and Hollywood Squares.

PlayStation Plus subscribers, you’ll find new content this week in the form of new discounts and full game trials including 20% off Jurassic Park: The Game on the full series bundle. You can also grab a free PlayStation mini with Doodle Fit. Lastly, get your avatar in the holiday spirit with free avatars, exclusively for Plus subscribers.
That’s this week’s update but check the full list for more details. Drop your comments and questions below, or jump over to the Store Update Thread on the PlayStation Community.

Metal Gear HD Digital Download…. get to it

DevanGelic said:

@148 Phatmillips, yep TWO GAMES, absolutey ZERO addon DLC. I’ve download and installed, and checked them out. False advertising or mistaken download settings on the \PSN side, I’m not gonna eat it though, double the time to get the trophies? no way. 2 separate games was not part of the deal. I’m calling support. they need to fix that.

DevanGelic said:

Arg, which I can’t do atm, they closed the CS while I installed the game.

As much as i like Assassins Creed, I was disappointed to see Revalations requires an online pass but if you buy it at walmart its $39 instead of $59 and you get the Brutus armor even if you didn’t pre order. Just look closely cause my walmart had $39 copies and $59 copies and they were both the same thing with brutus armor and AC1.

I too have been tricked into buying the 24.99 bundle. Why is it in 2 separate game files? and for pete’s sake

Very nice that the PS3 digital version of games are getting its own section. Although from this whole release there’s only one thing I’m getting. Not a very appealing update this week.

I did not want to bother asking this because I’m just one guy but here i come. Please discount Rocket Knight I’ve been waiting forever. The gam content does not justify the price tag and i refuse to buy it at full price, plese guys discount the Rocket Knight game thanks.

I am a current PS+ subscriber and I DON’T get Jurassic Park for free because I already signed up and didn’t JUST sign up now? Can someone PLEASE explain how this logic works? I signed up for PS+ when it was first launched and fully plan on renewing my subscription when it runs out…however that won’t be until mid December since I got 15 months when I signed up, and additional time added for the PS Network outage. I signed up so I could get access to the free games promised to PS+ subscribers and have loved it…but now I have to sign up or renew at an EXACT time in order to get some games…otherwise I have to pay 80% of the cost instead of getting it for free? I feel a bit cheated on this one. I understood the promo to be saying that I needed to be a member BY the 15th of November…not that I had to SIGN UP IN November in order to get the game.

Horrible kick to the balls of all currently existing PS+ members if you ask me.

i got my signature edition of acr and when i put in the code for my content, it didnt download. i pressed download, but it just left the download screen and its not on my download list. i didnt preorder my acr for nothing.

devilmosh said:

The logic on the Jurassic Park PS+ deal is easy. Since any time you buy another year of PS+, it gets tacked on to your current subscription (if expires next March, it’s adds another year to that), then ANYONE whether you’re a subscriber or not, could buy a year during the promotional period and get Jurassic Park for free. It’s like paying full price for the game and getting an extra year of free games and discounts for only $20.

It was a great deal for new and old subscribers, and it was very clear.

November 15th, 9:27 pm

The deal wasn’t for new subscribers, the deal was to encourage people to buy a YEAR subscription. The game is NOT a PS+ title because you keep it no matter if your PS+ expires. And had you bought a year subscription now and added, it would’ve been 1 year added to your account. Mine was expiring in January or February, bought a year and BAM, now expires that month in 2013. Math is cool.

It is not Sony’s fault you didn’t read the details/NOT fine print and did not understand it properly. The promo did NOT say you needed to be a member by the 15th. It said you needed to PURCHASE or REDEEM a 12 month subscription between November 1 & 8. It is your own fault for not reading it. Try reading it again:

Talgron said:

November 15th, 9:44 pm

@ djml9 Same here. When I put the armor code in nothing downloaded, it just exited the store and said thank you but when I went to the game the armor was there. Fire up the game and see if your stuff is there.

Ok Playstation, thanks alot for the MGS Avatars! Its been a long time coming. Also just a reminder, you guys forgot to put Grand Theft Auto San Andreas in the PS2 Classics section. Be sure to do that. I dont know what you guys are waiting for. If thats not a PS2 classic I dont know what is.

MrJolly said:

November 15th, 9:59 pm

@159. It’s not a great deal if it becomes the new “standard” to require a 12 month renewal whenever Sony decides to give away the next great game for “free” to it’s PS+ subscribers. What’s to say they don’t decide to do something similar to this every 4 months? Am I supposed to add an additional 12 months to my subscription several times a year just to be eligible for the GOOD free game I am should be getting anyway? The whole point of PS+ was to be have access the the free games, but under this plan you either have to continually add years onto your existing subscription REGARDLESS of the amount of time you still have remaining…OR you deal with the fact that you now subscribe to a service that promises acess to free games, but not all the same free games that other subscribers may be offered. I get SOME of the free games…not ALL of the free games….

MrJolly said:

November 15th, 9:59 pm

Please don’t get me wrong. I have been a strong proponent of PS+ and have really loved my subscription. I also fully intend on renewing when my subscription comes up for renewal…it IS an automatic renewal after all and I have no plans on canceling it. It’s just very disappointing to see Sony is dividing its PS+ benefits and only giving certain members this free game and charging others 80% retail price. All PS+ members should get the same benefits. No PS+ member should have to be on the lookout to see what additional hoops they may have to jump through in order to receive the very benefits they have already paid for.

Hey guys, I’ve bought PSN PLAY … even pre ordered every single one of the game but until now I still did not get Free PAY DAY HEIST voucher on my XMB ….

Please any1 help me find out why !?! Did Sony skipped my account ? cos this ain’t fair !!!

DevanGelic said:

November 15th, 10:53 pm

@168 NETwORKIN1777 — double check your XMB messages from “PSN” with the subject “PAYDAY THE HEIST”– I have 3 in my list. 1st (Sep 27) tells me to expect the game soon, and has attachment for game trailer. 2nd (Oct 14) tells me again to expect the voucher soon, this time giving me a date & has attachment of free theme to “placate” the delay. 3rd (Oct 18) was the voucher in the form of an attachment which is needed to be followed to collect, download, install and play game.

If no messages, double check the actual PS Store to see if a price tag is listed for the game or if it says “free”. If a price is listed then your best bet is IF you are certain its not there (mine came in around 2am on Oct 18), call customer service and they’ll set you up.

DevanGelic said:

November 15th, 10:58 pm

@168 — by “set you up” I mean, they’ll probably ask questions on when you purchased the PSN PLAY pre-orders and verify if all 4 pre-order games were bought within the time-frame. So, dig into your e-mails and have the purchase dates handy for verification.

RDR on the PS Store is great, and it comes with a great price too, especially for PS+ subscribers, even with all the DLC.

Morgan says more Full PS3 games are coming, so here are some ideas: GTAIV, Bioshock 1 and 2, COD4, MW2, MW3, WAW, Battlefield 2 and 3, Fallout 3, Oblivion, Skyrim, SFIV, Dark Souls, Demon Souls, GOW3, Uncharted 1, 2, 3, Killzone 2, 3, Resistance 1-3, Motostorm 1-3, LBP 1, LBP2 (actually why was LBP only up during the PSN Welcome Back program)

Also, finally a full section for PS3 Full Game, we have only been asking for it for about a year now lol. Here’s another request, a full section for HD Classics OR put it up in the PS2 classics section and sub divide each game with SD/HD sections like you have in the Video Store. Also need a Dreamcast Classics and Neo Geo Classics section.

devilmosh said:

November 15th, 11:44 pm

Yep, same problem here on the Red Dead Redemption bundle. After purchasing, it only gave me RDR and RDR:UN to download, and the ‘bought’ graphic didn’t show on the DLC in the store, like it did for those two.

I thought maybe the rest of the DLC was added in somehow, but nope. I started up both and they both say “No downloadable content installed.”

And to quote Morgan’s reply on the first page here, “The Red Dead Redemption + Undead Nightmare bundle contains everything (DLC, expansion, etc)”

And while the option to buy the bundle disappeared after I added it to the cart, I did verify that the description claimed the DLC was included.

I’ll be contacting customer service, for sure.

Here is a picture that details what is going on with the RDR+UNC bundle. If you are thinking about purchasing it I would wait until (hopefully) Sony fixes it, or we get further word as to what’s going on. If one of the CS associates is reading this could you please let us know if we need to call CS or if this will be fixed automatically ASAP. Thank you!

Same as everyone else who bought RDR bundle so my advice to anyone thinking of buying it is to not until they fix the problem or clarify what actually comes in the bundle because right now it is false advertising (I get that people make mistakes which is fine if this is the case as I know it happens and heck I will still be playing RDR for quite some time and will in due time probably pick up the other DLC if I can’t now get it for free). Other than this issue and the fact that the store is a little slow right it is a good update. Thank you Sony

hey i was wondering how long will red dead redemption and jurassic park (1 to 4) be on discount for ps+ members looking to purchase them on the 25th of november and wondering if they will be still up for that price or is it only a one week thing

DevanGelic said:

What also has me a little confused is, it being stated that all DLC was included, but also, there was no mention of the multiple “free addons” or the few addons that are for the game listed at $0.99 each.

Dessron said:

I’ll also be chiming in about the Red Dead Redemption and Undead Nightmare Collection purchase. From its Store page:

Undead Nightmare Collection – Combines the Undead Nightmare Pack, Liars and Cheats Pack & Legends and Killers Pack.

While it’s nice to have the standalone version of Undead Nightmare, we are also due for those three major add-ons. I hope to get this sorted out before the policy change, because as I posted, my big reason for getting this is for my dad, and I can’t be living under his roof forever, now.

I was kind of disappointed, because after I read the description on PSN and what Morgan Haro had said on here, I was almost certain that it would come with all the downloadable content.

Did I misinterpret something, because I don’t know what’s going on?

To all the people who bought the RDR bundle, I’m assuming this was just a mixup by the person who put the bundle together in the store. They were supposed to bundle the Undead DLC Collection and instead bundled the game, which comes with no DLC. Considering that one Sony employee wrote about it being RDR+UN DLC COLLECTION in this blog post, then another employee, Morgan Haro, confirmed in the comments section, and yet another employee wrote the same bundle description in the store, that is CLEARLY what was and is still being advertised and most likely what was meant to be. I doubt they’re trying to pull a fast one here, so I assume we’ll either get a refund, or more likely, we’ll just get the UN DLC Collection added to our accounts. If not, this will be my first and last time buying a full game digital download through PSN.

Whatever the case, it sure would be nice to have an official response… Morgan?

For all those wondering about the 10 dollar voucher. I didnt recieve mine as well so I contacted customer support by email and phone. They then gave me an email address to email my purchase emails to. Then said someone should get back to me in 3 to 5 days.

@Morgan Haro

Is there an update regarding the RDR+Undead Nightmare Collection issue? There’s people who bought it and only got RDR and Undead Nightmare only. I really want to buy this but until this gets fixed, I’m holding off. Thanks!

Doubt this will get a response, but any chance of BloodRayne 2 making its way onto PSN in the near future?
