A few weeks back I shared the big news that you would soon have the chance to win your PlayStation Vita only at Taco Bell before it hits retail this February 22nd. Well, it’s official! Starting now through March 11th, PlayStation and Taco Bell are giving you three ways to win your PS Vita: Unlock the Box, Battle, and Boast. On average, one winner will be selected every 15 minutes through March, so there are a lot of chances to win! Here’s how:

Unlock the Box: Head to your local Taco Bell today to pick up a specially marked $5 Big Box – which includes a Cheesy Gordita Crunch, Crunchy Taco, Burrito Supreme and medium fountain drink. You’ll see a code printed on the top of the box; enter that code at for a chance to win your PS Vita!

PS Vita and Taco Bell: Reality Fighters Dojo

Battle: We worked with Taco Bell to develop an exclusive Augmented Reality game based on the upcoming PS Vita game Reality Fighters. You can play Reality Fighters Dojo by downloading Taco Bell’s new mobile app for your Android or iOS device. Then pick up your specially marked Taco Bell $5 Buck Box, start Reality Fighters Dojo, point your device’s camera at the top of the box and get ready to battle. Here’s a quick look at what you can expect as you battle for a chance to win a PS Vita:

Boast: This one’s easy! Create a photo or video boasting about what you’d do to nab a PS Vita and submit it here. Submissions are already pouring in, so head to and click on “Boast” for more details on what you need to do to participate and how to vote for your favorite boast.

Prize Packs will include one PS Vita 3G/Wi-Fi system, one copy of the PS Vita-exclusive Little Deviants, one 4GB PS Vita Memory Card and your choice of one of the following: ModNation Racers: Road Trip, MLB 12 The Show or LittleBigPlanet. PS Vita winners will begin receiving their devices after February 8th and your selected game choice will be shipped on its respective launch date.

Good luck! If you won a PS Vita before it hit stores, what game would you most want to play? Let us know in the comments!

Well this promotion cannot be a scam unless they want a lawsuit for false advertisement. I won on the 30th and have not heard anything. The last thing I heard was wait an extra 2-3 business days, already pass and still nothing.

@Rob Guarino, I will wait but if i do not receive the email on friday night I will call them and send an email. Well I alredy sent an email but they ignored it and never replied. If they keep on ignoring me and not giving me a vita I will sew them.

@ aufi99 and Lara-Croft

Good luck.

I called up Ventura associates yesterday and talked to a Customer Representative who was extremely rude to me. I told her that I had an inquiry about the Taco Bell Unlock the Box instant win game and the next thing she did was put me straight into another persons voicemail while I was in mid sentence without even telling me anything. She didn’t say “Could you hold on a minute sir so I can transfer you to someones voicemail” or anything like that. I didn’t know what even happened till I got into the voicemail. This is an extremely poor way to handle your customer representative division.

What I did was left a voicemail explaining my situation about how I won on the 31st, haven’t received a notification email, how they have not responded back to my original email from almost 10 days ago, my name and telephone number. I am going to wait 48 hours before I try and figure out what I have to do next but I’ll honestly be surprised if I get a call back.

@Rob Guarino

What good will this do if they are ignoring your emails? I have contacted them by both email and telephone, but I am honestly not getting any information from them. ANYTHING would be better than just being ignored.

Who may I contact about this, since they are not replying back to me?

What exactly does the email say? What all did you do just cal?l or did you do what Rob said to do about emailing?

This whole situation is completely rediculous. I am not a person quick to anger but after winning on the 30th and being completely ignored and not receiving confirmation since, I’ve reached my limit. SONY, TACO BELL WHY ARE WE BEING TREATED LIKE ANIMALS FOR PARTICIPATING IN AND WINNING A PROMOTION FROM YOUR COMPANIES? WHY HAVEN’T WE RECEIVED CONFIRMATION EMAILS YET, IT HAS BEEN ALMOST TWO FULL WEEKS NOW AND THE CONTEST SAID WITHIN 2-3 DAYS. PLEASE MAKE THIS RIGHT!!!!!!!!!

Just gonna throw my hat in and say that I’m also in the group that “won” early last week (31st for me) and haven’t received an e-mail or snail mail letter yet either. Don’t get my hopes up for naught Sony/Taco Bell!

HotFuzz367 said:

I am in the same boat. I won on the 30th and still have not received an email or letter. I have also tried the email route to and have not heard back from them in about a week now. Even after I sent two additional emails. Once again we are subjected to poor customer service and a real lack of communication from anyone. All the good gestures that were handed out to those who stood by Sony when the Network was offline for weeks has now lost its value. There is no excuse for the lack of communication. I can understand there are errors or someone is working on it but to ignore the people who purchase your products is unexcusable!

I have already emailed tbsweeps and no reply, I want to know what else we are suppose to do if Ventura are not ever replying to emails? Sony needs to seriously call these people to see what is going on with the winners.

megafire555 said:

February 10th, 7:37 am

i won on the 30th and i have not got an email this is ticking me of and i think this entire thing is a scam since it says in the commercials and the description that the winners will be the first people to get a vita before any body gets them in store and the vita comes out early in game stop THE 15th and no one has gotten a response back if we do get it late then i suggest that you guys add another game and any game we want plus/or a $50 psn card and also to the readers out there if you complain to taco bell they don’t even answer your call and give you excuses

megafire555 said:

February 10th, 7:40 am

oooh the only email i got from sony after i won was an email about the contest i mean seriously i get high hopes and get an email for something i have already done and won. \ (

megafire555 said:

February 10th, 7:44 am

sorry for the last thing i put it meant to be an angry face and know i have to buy the vita so i am know thinking this is a scam so everybody who wanted a vita for free will now have to buy them i was going to buy at first then i won and now i don’t know what to do but we might have to sew sony for not keeping a promise on a contest for a 1000 people or more

Xoonaka said:

February 10th, 2:00 pm

Seriously guys, it’s sue. Unless you want to make them a sweater or something.

aufi99 said:

February 10th, 2:19 pm

@megafire555 this is not a scam i recieved an email and it says that i am verified so you just need to wait for the email. :D

HotFuzz367 said:

February 10th, 2:55 pm

@ aufi99 – It is amazing how your tone has changed now that you got your email. I am not trying to be mean but why should anyone expect the fact that poor communication is acceptable. It I am not mistaken you said ” If they keep on ignoring me and not giving me a vita I will sew(spelled sue) them.” This is not a scam, we understand that but it still gives them no right to ignore the requests for information. I am not demanding that I have my Vita tomorrow, just that I am given what was promised in fine print for the contest. To receive my Vita before it is released, to receive confirmation by mail and to receive an email to choose the additional game. Seem pretty simple to me.

If @Rob Guranio was able to take the time to comment on your post about you suing if you don’t get your Vita then way is it so hard to receive any email back saying that they received the email and they will get back to you as soon as possible.

It’s super encouraging to hear you received word back… I still haven’t. This article is making me paranoid about it, too:

Hopefully I hear something soon. Good luck everyone!! Let’s hope we can all win the “second phase” of the contest… actually getting verified!!

February 10th, 4:22 pm

WOW This is crap….. OK so I happened to win on the Th as well and I finally got a response back from taco bell.

2:45 PM (1 hour ago)

to me

We have received your inquiry and determined that you are not a valid winner. This was determined by checking the information (i.e. code, email address, cell phone, name, etc.) you gave us with your inquiry to the data in our system’s records. Please note that ANY ATTEMPT TO UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THIS PROMOTION AND SWEEPSTAKES IS A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES FOR SUCH ACTIONS TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. The decisions of the judges are final.

So by what I am reading on other sites and this site about the Th winners and not getting a response back, it appears they think we entered in illegally or tried to hack the site or something. This is real BS!!! I have my box with the code still as well as a screen shot of the page when I won. This sounds like false advertisement to me.

You hear that Sony? All your fans are being screwed!
Some action better be taken. This is ridiculous.
I won on the 30th too, never received any email confirming it.
I still have my box with me, and hell I even still have the wrappers inside of it.
This is not going unnoticed.

Yeah, so I’ve bought a different $5 buck box for the last 3 days and I’ve entered a code and played the game to enter each day still no win?
According to what I’ve heard, there’s more like 3 winners every 4 days!

I played this Taco Bell Unlock the box promo on Jan.31, 2012. I texted the 12 digit code from my Iphone(which is a smart phone). Shortly after I got a text from Taco Bell asking if “I was over 18”. I replied “Yes” The next message from Taco Bell was ” U just WON a Playstation Vita pending verification! Text ur email & we’ll send U ur prize info.” so I did just that, sent them my email address. Next message from Taco Bell was “Got ur email, go2 inbox!” i’ve been going to my inbox since then looking in my junk folder and everything else in between. I’ve called the “help” number, The woman on the other line took down my report and said i needed to email someone else. I emailed Ventura Associates Intl. LLC (which are in charge of the promo) the next day 2-1-12 I received a response from Vanessa Gross Thanking me for my email, and saying they’re looking into it. that was the LAST I’ve heard from ANYONE. So now I’m like “WTF? What now?”

Luvz2spamU said:

February 12th, 3:49 pm

I’m in the same boat. Vanessa/Ventura never respond to any of our emails. Your best bet is to try and contact the Unlock the Box hotline: 1.855.255.1746

@ 100 When I try to upload a JPG in the Vita Boast page, I keep getting a validation error. I don’t know why. Is Taco Bell trying to deny users from entering, because I haven’t done anything wrong?

Some SCEA or Sony entity please reply.

supermariofan101 said:

February 13th, 3:57 am

@ 121 I can’t even upload a photo. I did everything it told me to, and It still won’t go through.

Xoonaka said:

February 13th, 2:47 pm

Well, I got the damn e-mail claiming I’m somehow trying to “undermine” the competition and I’m not a “real” winner. This entire contest is ridiculous. I won, dang it. I put my code in exactly as the site specified, I gave them my contact information exactly as asked… and then they didn’t get in contact with me.

I’m guessing there was some kind of server error on Jan. 30th, and somehow more people were told they won then actually had. But the fact Ventura Associates is trying to turn this around as if we did something wrong is insulting.

So my new question becomes… what will Sony do about it? What will Taco Bell do about it? My guess? Absolutely nothing.

And that, folks, is how class action lawsuits get started.

This promotion is obviously a scam or has a huge flaw in it.

I have also received the email of doom even though I am a valid winner and have the winning text message. I have just contacted kotaku as well as my local news about this. I have sent an email to FOX5’s Shame on you with Arnold Diaz with all of my information and I am hoping he will get in contact with me.

I am sure Taco Bell nor Ventura want to have any bad PR, but what they are doing is causing just that. You cannot tell someone that they are a winner and then notify them 12 days later after countless times of trying to get in contact with them that they are NOT a winner. This is complete BS. Most of the people on FaceBook group page have just received this email that they are “not valid winners”

I hope others on the FaceBook group page go to the media as well about this as this is just not fair.

Lara-Croft said:

The Doom has begun…

angel95-_- said:

i hope i do not get a letter of doom.but at least their are people finding out how wrong this is.

Lara-Croft said:

February 21st, 8:39 am

Well it’s been 3 weeks and still no verification email from TB. I have contacted them and still waiting for a reply this is insane and VERY BAD customer service.

Lara-Croft said:

February 22nd, 7:34 am

This seems to get worse for the winners…

TB should stop the promotion and reward the people with their codes still available their prize. END OF STORY!!!
