On this week’s Blogcast, Sid and I recount our favorite stories to come out of GDC ’17. We also ponder the finer points of the “clicker” genre, look forward to the sleeper hit-to-be Disc Jam, and share stories of our adventures in Guerrilla’s Horizon Zero Dawn. Finally, a thought-provoking listener letter kicks off a discussion about overhyping games and expectation management. Enjoy the show!

I’m just here to post before the one kid cries about the “core” fan base.

No need, Sid said they are looking into it already.

Anyways, I am loving Horizan, I can’t wait to hear your thoughts. I will listen on my Vita again this weekend, sitting next to me while I’m hunting in HZD.

    Keep up the good work!

I’m actually thoroughly surprised by Guerilla Games as they have been making KillZone since Playstation 2. You can tell it’s a first time but not like most studios who stumble almost violently with it. I feel most companies that try to switch and 180 their genre don’t necessarily flop, They tend to get a backlash.

Disc Jam was AWESOME based on my experience in the Beta. So glad to see it pop up on March’s PS+. I think it has the potential to be another big Rocket League-esque hit :-)

Why get rid of the STORE UPDATE post that was actually useful, but keep a phoned in Drop post and a blogcast that I don’t even know who listens to.

Maybe you could bring the STORE UPDATE post back to the blog. You know, the single most useful post on this blog for the past 10 years.

Any chance of PS4 portable that plays digital versions of PS4 games?

…In more recent news, “US PlayStation Store to Begin Charging Sales Tax in More States on April 1, 2017” reported by NeoGAF users, some of the affected states include Alabama, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Jersey, Ohio, Texas, Utah, and Washington an maybe more posted by “Playstation lifestyle” homepage. (In short detail)

My thoughts, PSN users living in those states should be receiving email notices pretty soon. PlayStation Store an all the services such a PS Vue, PS Plus, PS Now, and PS Music, will start collecting tax in your state starting April 1, 2017.

Why does every post on the blog and even the the blogcast go out of it’s way to avoid mentioning Playstation Plus for PS3 and Vita; even when the game is Cross Buy with PS4? Last month, 5 out of the 6 games were on PS4 and this month 3. Yet, when a video is made, it only shows the 2 main PS4 games and when you talk about the IGC, you tend to leave out PS3 and Vita… even when they’re Cross Buy.
