Why is there a $100 difference between the GT Sport bundle and the Doom VFR bundle?

    Vedichymn said:

    December 6th, 8:22 am

GT Sport Bundle includes version 1 of the PSVR Headset, Doom VFR bundle includes version 2 of the PSVR headset.

Yeah, wondering the same. $199 sounds too good to be true, I wonder if it is a typo.

I think the Gran Turismo bundle has the 1st generation of the Headset

The GT Sports PSVR bundle includes CUH-ZVR1 while the Doom / Skyrim PSVR bundles include CUH-ZVR2.

The big technical difference is that the CUH-ZVR2 processing unit supports HDR pass-through while the original launch PSVR (CUH-ZVR1) had that oversight. Basically what that meant is if you want to play something supporting HDR you had to use a HDMI splitter or swap cables. If you like HDR, you will want the CUH-ZVR2 (coming with Doom or Skyrim) because both using a HDMI splitter (swapping inputs) and swapping cables can feel inconvenient to the point you use PSVR less.

The other big improvement for CUH-ZVR2 is that it has microphone built in and the headphone can be plugged in directly to the VR headset instead of along the wire connecting it to the processing unit. The way it plugs into the back of the headset and the ear phones it comes with are just much better design where the wires aren’t getting in your way while you play even as you might move around a fair bit.

Not sure what kind of Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals were available in the U.S. for the Pro, but I was quite surprised to see it dropped $100 on Black Friday from its normal $499 price here in Canada. Best Buy and EB Games each had it for $399 (about $312 U.S.) with a game included (the new COD with Best Buy and Horizon Zero Dawn with EB Games). I was hoping for a $50 price drop, so a $100 savings was awesome!

The differences V1 and V2 do not justify a $100 difference especially Doom VFR retails at $30 and GT Sport retails at $60. So, it’s actually $130 difference using current retail price.

    Move Controllers.

    btribble said:

    December 6th, 3:59 pm

Not to get too pedantic but both versions of the headset have the microphone built-in… but in addition to the HDR passthrough, the newer revision does eliminate the small volume control block, putting the headphone jack, power button, volume up/down, and mic mute on the headset itself. Also removed is the much larger HDMI dual plug-block that is part of the cord connecting to the headset to the main “mini PS4” breakout box. So, this will be a much lighter cord to deal with and will be more comfortable when standing, I imagine.

From my research only Skyrim VR will come with the 2nd generation CR headset not GT sport or doom and only Skyrim bundle will have the 2 move controllers the other 2 bundles only have the 1st generation headset and the camera and game. Hope to clears everything up.

What retailers are participating in the $349 promotional price for the PS4 pro?

Cripshay said:

December 6th, 8:26 am

Those deals are super lame….. :(
The $199 PS4 Slim consoles were already sold out days before Black Friday.
And now we get this :/ No PS4 Slim deals. Only a weak PS4 Pro deal. Really? No $299 PS4 Pro?
Eugh….. terrible!

Geez, where do you live? Ps4 consoles were all over the place on Black Friday. Literally stacks of them. You must live in a small one horse town in the middle of South Dakota or something.

    Blackmagic316 said:

    December 6th, 10:28 am

Bulleteddy You must live in a small horse town man. I didn’t see a single PS4 slim on BF, a few Battlefront II PS4 models and a couple pros. I mean I went out after 5pm on Friday but still.

    GaMeR_bOi_83 said:

    December 6th, 10:38 am

Actually no, most retailers sold out before Black Friday. Most retailers started the BF sale a few days earlier.

I live in San Diego county and i saw little to no PS4’s at most stores

    Cripshay said:

    December 15th, 8:54 am

    lol @Bulleteddy
Just read the other comments. The PS4 Slim was sold out 2 days before Black Friday started.
Next time do some research, then write.

PS Pro IS $299, you just gotta do your research. Not only is it discounted $50 from sony this week, but if you trade in any eligible game game or accessory to amazon, THEY give you $50 on top of sonys discount. I traded in a game worth $1.03 and qualified instantly, got my pro yesterday. $326 after tax. My bet is you still dont get one, and you find something else to complain about cripshay.

Will Canadians also receive the same kind of love?

    Kaelum said:

    December 8th, 8:44 am

I really don’t know why Canadians visit this blog, as this is the US ONLY blog. Canada has it’s own Sony PlayStation web sites and blogs. Sony USA and Sony Canada are completely different companies, and can’t do anything for other countries.

    SamusekTDS said:

    December 9th, 7:36 am

Kaelum: actually, that’s not correct. No Canadian blog exists… unless you mean whatever the heck this useless page is: https://blog.us.playstation.com/tag/playstation-canada/

I hope they bring back the PSVR games sale that they had for the anniversary. A lot of people bought them for the BF deal and missed out on that.

mcdull9413 said:

December 6th, 12:32 pm

Is Sony being crazy?
Many people just bought the bare headset for $199 a week ago for the now super-lame BF deal.
And now they’re selling the bundle at the same $199 like giving away the GT Sport and camera?
If I bought the headset during BF, I would just return it.

The V1 and V2 headset has the same optic and visual quality except the HDR pass thru and built-in audio control in the headset. But Doom VFR retails for $30 and GT Sport retails for $60, how to justify the $100 difference?

Not a bad price drop, but I have to wonder something. Will Sony run some holiday sales on the store? Black Friday was alright, but there has been no flash sale so far (none in the month of November). This week’s offerings were blah!

Hexperience said:

December 7th, 8:41 am

So essentially everyone who knows about the upcoming sale won’t buy anything for the next few days? I wonder if I buy at Wallyworld will they refund the price difference if it drops in a couple of days? It’s great to save a few bucks, but now I have to wait to buy. (conflicting emotions) ;)

Hello Sony,

Would like to know please, are the prices going be adjusted in Canada also? Especially on the GT:S PSVR bundle?

Thank you

Sony USA and Sony Canada are 2 completely separate companies. Neither can do anything outside of their country of origin. You will need to ask Sony Canada that question.

Where all will this sale be at? I’m in th US and I’ve called gamestop, walmart, and best buy and nobody is honoring these prices next week. Is it just through online at sony?

killah_b-cuban said:

Will this sale only be available through the PS store only? Or will it be in retailers too like Best Buy???

    hendrix72589 said:

I Called Sony playstation customer service number because I was wondering the same thing. They told me that all the Retailers will have them $100 off. But when I called Best Buy, Walmart, and gamestop no one has even heard of the sale. So I guess Sunday we will see. If you hear anything different please let me know.
