MLB 12 The Show: See the New Miami Marlins Ballpark

Sports fans –

I’m psyched to give you a sneak peak at the new Miami Marlins ballpark in South Beach, courtesy of MLB 12 The Show. Have a look at where new acquisitions Jose Reyes, Mark Buehrle, and Heath Bell will be calling home this year…

MLB 12 The Show: See the New Miami Marlins Ballpark

After winning two World Series in less than 20 years since their inaugural 1993 season, 2012 ushers in a name change and a new ballpark for the Marlins. Before we could add this new ballpark to MLB 12 The Show, we had to gather as much information as possible in order to faithfully recreate every inch of this stadium exactly as it stands in Miami. Project Coordinator Jennifer Kacizak and Environment Artist Anton Napierala each started compiling blueprints, architectural concept models, and other data (thanks to our friends at MLB and the Marlins front office) of the ballpark which allowed us to get the shell or skeleton of the stadium in place. From there, more information was found via reference photos and even live online video streams. From all of this combined reference material, we’re able to bring the Marlins new home to life in MLB 12 The Show. Our goal is always to give our fans the most realistic sports experience possible, and I’m thrilled we were able to continue that proud tradition here. Check out the video to see the stadium in action… it’s as close as it gets to the real thing without dipping your toes in the surf at Miami Beach!

  • not a Marlins fan but i do want to know if you guys kept sun life in the game like you did with Yankees and twin stadiums? also any pre order bonus for this year?

  • Will this game have a tutorial system?

  • I hopw this year’s trophy list is easier than 2011 the show trophy list. They need tob stop making trophies that are more based on luck or huge amount of skill. Not every player who buys this game is an expert in baseball games. Make trophies a bit easier and in turn it will be alot more enjoyable to collect these virtual achievements.

  • yes it will have a tuturial system to help with the new pitching and hitting mechanics. MLB the show series is the best baseball simulator game out there. bar one. Cant wait to buy it for my Vita on March the 6th.

  • My home team

  • I just have to throw this in there. The new Marlins stadium is in Miami but not South Beach. It’s where the Orange Bowl used to be which is more in the Little Havana area (inland/West/Opposite direction of the beach, ha!).

    Other than that, cool stuff!

  • Love this series.

  • The stadium looks great in the game! I still can’t believe that the HR Marlin statue-thing in center field is so close to the batter’s eye, that has to be distracting to any hitter. Can’t wait ’til March 6 though! My PS3 and Vita are ready for The Show!

  • Atlanta ain’t Braver

  • WoW, incredible job by the artist! The stadium isn’t even finished in real life! Amazing job on this one!

  • Good job rendering; judging from that though, the new stadium will be awful if you compare to all the great places they built in the last decade (Philly, SF, Det, Mil, StL). The outfield area looks bleak and bland (like marlins fans!).

Also, probably worst unis in the history of baseball, and yes, I include the old Padres and Astros, because those uglies from the past were relevant to their era; not Miami.

At least they have potential to have a great team, play in a brand new public-funded park, and probably will dismantle the team once they win the WS.

  • As a Marlins fan I see one HUGE flaw about the new stadium details. There are actually fans in the seats! They filled the stadium up but as we all know from history that they will be lucky to have that stadium have full midway though the season once all of the hype dies down.

  • LOL!! @BANKHEAD.. They’re Playing the Phillies… And Phillies fans always pack any house… Heres the fan to seats ratios: 95% Phillies fans… 3% People who travel to Miami to explore the new ballpark and 2% Marlins Fans xD

  • Easily one of my favorite things about this series; The ball parks. Another great job.

  • That is going to be a cool Ballpark. They should make a video of every Ballpark, that would be killer.

  • will there be an update to make the playoffs a 10 team event if in fact that starts this year? thats what i’m curious of

  • The messed up the color of the walls, it’s a bright apple green, not a dark green… sigh
