Thatgamecompany’s Flow Comes to PS4 Tuesday

Hi all, season’s greetings from everyone here at Sony Santa Monica!

For me, the holidays are a time for reverence, a time to give thanks to family/friends/co-workers, a time to look forward to the new possibilities the coming year has to offer… and of course a time to enjoy some games.

Flow on PS4

This year, I had the good fortune to work on two ports of thatgamecompany’s games with two amazing developers: Flower on PS4 and PS Vita with Bluepoint Games, and flOw on PS4 and PS Vita with SuperVillain Studios. I’d like to thank all of the fans out there who helped to make Flower the top-selling PS4 (Without Digital Upgrade) game on PlayStation Store.

If you are one of the many people who enjoyed Flower, be sure to check out flOw on PS4 and PS Vita when it comes out on December 17th (that’s Tuesday!) – It’s $5.99 for the base game and $1.99 for the DLC.

Flow on PS4

And if you’re in the mood for something a little different, something a little dark but chock full of humor, check out Escape Plan – now available on PS4. Escape Plan is a cross-buy title for PS4 and PS Vita available for $14.99.

And just a reminder that these are Cross-Buy games, meaning if you buy it on PS3, PS4, or Vita, you will own it on all three. Enjoy!

  • Oooh-Da-Lolly…..more PS4!!!

  • I use to have this game on my Download list, but it just disappeared one day, I don’t get why. Never noticed till early this year when I tried downloading it and couldn’t find it -.-.

  • Journey is the only one left without a ps4/vita update hmmm….

  • It’s free online…
Still, nice to see it joining the PS4/Vita family.

  • I probably already know the answer to this but, any chance that the PSP version entitles you to the cross-buy PS4/Vita version?

Also, please don’t leave Journey hanging! That was my favorite of the three!

    • Yeah, unfortunately the PSP version does not entitle you to the PS3, PS4, and Vita versions – it just did not pan out.

  • Bring Journey to PS4!

  • I wish you all would find a way for users who have this game from buying it off the Journey collectors edition to get it cross buy too.

Since you put your ps3 disc inside ps4 to upgrade to a ps4 version of games like assassins creed, there surely has to be a way for flow and flower also.

    • We’ve definitely looked into this and have yet to find a way. I don’t know for sure, but suspect newer PS3 game discs were created with the intent to allow for digital upgrade.

  • Nice! Now Journey please? Come on? Please? I’ll send cookies, promise.

  • Been waiting on this release, another great addition to the Vita lineup. Dec. 17 update is going to be loaded for the Vita!

  • now journey on vita please! i would buy journey in a heatbeat!

  • Journey to PS4 please!

I’m buying flow for ps4/vita and loved Flower on ps4/vita.

Separate trophy list for ps4 & vita like Flower?

  • Good!…

    Now… Jorney for VITA…

  • Cross Buy is the second best thing in video games today… PSPlus being the first best. <3

    • Double win, right? PS+ is seriously one of the best deals out there. Props to that team for getting such great content for such an affordable price (I <3 them too).

  • I know you guys love to answer nice “thank you sony” comments. But I must be honest here. I really don’t get why Vita Plus members are so underrated. Seriously, it’s the second week in a row with no free games on IGC. And only 2 games (1 crossbuy) with discount on the holiday sale. Also, I see no reason why you guys bring jp releases for ps3 and dont make the same for vita (like One Piece). All this makes joining the Plus kinda pointless.
Why not hear the vita owners a bit before releasing plus benefits?
    thanks

  • Definitely looking forward to grabbing it on PS4 and Vita! I really hope Journey will get this treatment!

  • Love this game on PS3. So that means that I’ll get another birthday present next week? Yay!

  • Please allow us to use physical controls with this one, unlike Flower! And please patch them into Flower – I hate gimmicky motion controls and the touch screen controls suck! I’ve had to resort to remote playing Flower from the PS4 in order to use physical controls.

  • Sony, please remove the 100 app limit from Vita. I have a 64GB card with 20GB free that I can’t use for games because I have 100 apps, 15 or so are system apps that can’t be removed.
I have room for more apps, I shouldn’t have to delete more to install them. This is prohibiting me from buying more Vita games.

  • @18

You don’t need 100 apps on your Vita. Quit spamming the comments on every post and delete something.

  • Hi juuichi-11, I’m not sure how long you’ve been a PS Plus member, but the trend has been for the PS3 games to be given free during the beginning of each month, and the Vita games to be given at the end of each month. So, you will be getting Sonic Racing Transformed and Urban Trials Freestyle later this month. Usually that’s how it works, unless there is a PS3/Vita Cross-buy game that would mean Vita owners get something earlier in the month.

I don’t think it’s a lack of respect for the Vita, it’s just the way they’ve set-up the schedule. It would be nice if they considered alternating weeks between PS3 and Vita games to keep everyone happy, but really it’s the same wait for PS3 and Vita players to get their free games.

It will be interesting to see how the PS4 games slot into the schedule. Hopefully we get some new ones in January, although it must be tough with the system just getting released.

Anyway, I’m looking forward to Sonic Racing – the demo was cool and the reviews are pretty good for it. Haven’t been interested in a Sonic game for a long time, but this one looks decent.

Also, back to the topic of this post – I think Flow will be a great experience on Vita.

  • Hi, soundandvision77. ^^ I was referring to the amount of free vita games compared to the ps3 – not much of the quality.
Also, I’m a bit disappointed bout the us versions of japanese releases on vita – also compared to ps3. :)
I’ll not start to complain that sony ~~doesnt give my favorite game for free~~ or something like that. Just think they could pay a bit more attention to what psnplus vita owners want.

  • Please tell me you guys fix that trophy glitch issue … i wanted ot play this game so bad … but that game breaking trophy glitch wit hteh dlc i believe or one of the trophies wouldn’t pop at all ……

  • @19, I’m not spamming. I’m commenting on relevant posts about new Vita games.

I know I can delete things, but I shouldn’t have to. I’ve supported Sony by buying many of their PS1, PSP, and Vita games, and I bought their largest memory card to make managing them more efficient. It is an asinine and completely pointless limitation.

  • They really need to remove the 100 app limit, I don’t have a issue with 10 pages but 100 apps limit is not efficient, it’s why I didn’t get a 64gb memory card, I have like 13 default apps, like 10 maybe apps, My FF collection, My other PS One Titles, My 11 physical titles and some of my PSP and Vita digital titles. It’s at I believe 75 and I have 2GB left, if I buy the 64 I won’t even be able to put the rest. But my main issue is I’m still waiting for Crash titles to work, it’s good FFV finally works on Vita Finally, Spyro and Crash is all I’m waiting for now.

  • I keep all my titles on my Vita cause, I should be able, also the fact I don’t wanna redownload when I want a certain game, especially with how slow games download on Vita (video store is quick though). I play whatever I feel and it is not always the same games tody as I play yesterday. Might be FFIX and BBCSE today, P4G, LBPPSV Grandia tmrw, Sonic Transformed, Uncharted, Dynasty Warriors the day after, and FFIX, P4G, Power Stone, Megaman Maverick Hunter, Valkryia Chronicles 2 the next day. Is that wrong? No, if I buy the space and bought the games it’s perfectly justifiable. @19, not everyones you, respect the issues, cause it is one. Criticism creates a better product

  • Was a bit disappointed with the resolution of Flower on the Vita. Will Flow be the same or better?

  • Also, naw I can’t bother contact. Took me like 8 hours just to have em tell me they can’t give me my Vita content on cross-buy content cause of a error on PSN, though I gave em proof. I don’t bother with em anymore after that, the PSASBR Vita Content not being added and Sonic Transformed bonus content for Vita showing as PS3 content, I had to get lucky and one of the creators put up a code for vita’s bonus content that multiple ppl can use, just to get it, though it was PSN mix ups.

  • @2 Teflon02

Was that the free version given out one day a few years ago? I got that version and that disappeared from my download list as well.

  • Really intrigued by this one. Glad it hits on Tuesday, and I love the price, might even pick up the dlc.

    @jutke13 –

I get what you’re trying to do, but you have to understand it is going to get on people’s nerves. It does get annoying after a while, and you have to admit there is a high amount of futility with what you’re trying to accomplish, especially since it’s not a real problem, you’re just nitpicking. I understand your point, but still it’s a bit whiney and excessive. Who’s playing 100 separate games at one time anyways? Even though there might be enough memory on the card for more apps, maybe the limit is there for user interface stability, or some other valid reason? Did you ever stop to think about that? No need to respond, take it with a grain of salt if you want, I’m just saying.

  • I have Flow for the PSP. Will I be getting it on the Vita too or is that only if I have the PS3 version?

  • I have a question? I got flow when sony gave it out for free years ago. Am I offered the vita and ps4 versions?

  • @28, you know, that might be how I got it, It was a while back, so I don’t remember exactly since I didn’t play it much. But it maybe the same with me as you.

  • Yeah I had this on my list a while ago, no longer there after I had to get my PS3 repaired and had to redownload everything. Boom missing.

  • Cool. Loved flOw on the PSP, can’t wait to play it on my vita.

  • Awesome! didn’t try the DLC on PS3… well I should grab it this time on PS4, thks for the info Sir Eric! =)

  • It’s about time been waiting for this since forever glad to see it’s finally made it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Journey please.

  • ohh la la this game looks pretty. i’ll check it out =]

  • only question i have since i own vita & ps3, i have the psp copy of flow on my vita and i have the the flow bundle on ps3..do i have to repay! other then that i will say my vita is everywhere with me. havin 32gb i have more than have of my library! im aimin for 64gb, i have mad movies to take along with me..i just cant wait for that FFX remake for my vita, and lberation on ps3, had to get up on that, heard of god of war coming to vita next spring! nice…my vita is my palmpilot 3000!!!!!!

  • I just wanted to send a shout-out to the guys at the Bluepoint Games. The PS4 version of flower is flawless. Bluepoint has been doing the best HD-remasters around for a while and deserve credit for that. Thanks guys!

  • Very Cool!

  • Totally agree with @jutke13 and all people who don´t want this STUPID 100 apps limitation for Vita

I have Sound Shapes and I tryed to download new levels and I received the “Message do remove others ….”

    This limitation Is TOTALY STUPID!

If i desire to put MORE THINGS bought IN MY DEVICE payed with MY MONEY, this 100 apps limitation is a DISRESPECT !

Sony = REMOVE THIS LIMITATION, NOW!

  • wow seriously?…. PS4 the great and powerful game console with 8gb DDR5 and we get FLOW, the most simplistic looking game every made… wow.. *shakes my head*

  • I would like a PS4 Journey for Xmas plz

  • @ ChainClutch – They don’t all have to be graphic powerhouses. Flow is a gorgeous game and, as someone that is phasing out his PS3, I’m glad they’ve decided to bring it over to the PS4.

  • Not sure you are going to respond, but what are the graphical upgrades compared to the PS3 version?

  • sweet, so if i already bought it on psn for my ps3, i get the vita + ps4 copy?
don’t take this the wrong way, but you guys are starting to make me regret regretting that i missed out on the journey collection phsycial

  • Great news.

Please release Everyday Shooter for the PS4 and please add trophies to the PS3 version.
I’ve been loving that game since the PSP. It’s so underrated.

Happy Holidays to everyone on this blog! :)

  • @26, I hear you. The resolution on the Vita port of Flower is really quite poor. This actually makes the game more frustrating, as once you can’t see un-bloomed flower when you get a decent height to survey. I hope Sony continues their great trend of post-release support for VIta games and optimizes the resolution and LOD models.

I was also surprised that the PS4 version of Flower didn’t have the petal-collection notes come from the DS4 speaker in addition to the home theater speakers. That would have been really, really cool.

  • @48, YESSS!!!! Everyday Shooter is a game that my husband *still* goes back to on PS3 and on VIta (via the PSP version). The music is really awesome and the art is wicked cool. A PS4/Vita native version with HD audio (and maybe co-op?) would be absolutely fantastic.
