This Week in PlayStation Home: New BioShock 2 and FINAL FANTASY XIII Content, Sodium Updates, and Wireless Keypad Giveaway

70 8

You’ve been asking us for weeks in the official PlayStation Home forums, in the comments section of this Blog, and on fan sites and podcasts…and we’re coming through for you like you knew we would! That’s right, Home people – this Thursday, April 22nd the long-requested FINAL FANTASY XIII costumes (along with some additional FFXIII furniture) will be released into the ever-expanding world PlayStation Home. For the guys, our friends at Square Enix have made Sazh and Snow costumes, while all you gals out there will be able to pick up the gorgeous wares of Lightning and Vanille. These clothing items will be sold as bundles in the Costumes store and include composite clothing sets, gloves, and wigs (an extra chocobo wig for Sazh will be sold separately). Peep the below visual evidence for an idea of what to expect when this truly awesome FFXIII content releases later this week.

Final Fantasy XIII Costumes for PlayStation Home

Speaking of highly-requested content, we’ll be partying like its 1968 in Central Plaza come this Thursday when Big Daddy and Big Sister costumes (along with some other BioShock 2 virtual items) are released in PlayStation Home. We’ve snagged a few pics to give you a taste of what to expect when you add these creepy items to your collection (fun fact: Mr. Magnus Keynes – Home’s resident business guru – is too scared by BioShock 2 to even review these new items whereas our very own CydoniaX regularly schools the rest of the team in multiplayer mode and is sporting the Big Sister armor as I type).

In other news, Sodium will be receiving an update this week which will result in faster loading, new objectives being doled out by VICKIE (with new rewards, of course), and a new interactive map. As with all things in PlayStation Home, these updates come at the request of our loyal community members who regularly contribute great ideas on the official PlayStation Home Sodium forum. So, please, keep the good thoughts coming!

Ever since we released the new and improved Gamer’s Lounge last week, our nightly Featured Game parties have been hopping. And while you can always count on at least one official event being staged every single day in PlayStation Home (like this upcoming Saturday night’s Battlefield: Bad Company 2 game launching party), you can also bet that we’ll regularly break the mold and offer additional, 100% exclusive giveaways complete with the best prizes we can get our hands on. Starting this Friday, April 23rd and running to next Friday, April 30th, we’ll be giving away Wireless Keypads to 10 lucky contestants who participate in our Wireless Keypad sweepstakes. Want to learn how you can enter to win? Read the official Rules and Regulations, tacked on below for your convenience.

  • CydoniaX is good at Bioshock 2? I hope to play against her someday! :o

    • She’s the best out of anyone on the team. Magnus used to be up there, but as stated, he’s too scared to continue playing. Please feel free to give him a hard time about it next time you see him in-world ;)

  • I love you

  • The Wireless Keypad is such garbage, worst purchase ever.

  • Another thing, is the bioshock costume the same one from the Amazon pre-order?

  • BIOSHOCK APARTMENT!!!! BIOSHOCK!!!!! WE NEED SPELUNKER CAVES!!! AND TROPHY ROOM!!!! TROPHY ROOOOOM!!!!!!

  • Would like to win one of those keyboards thought. Messaging anything on PS3 is almost pointless torture without one.

  • Im confussed sir..You say no apt this week from bioshock?
Also, have they fixed the prob with items loading in the Pirate ship?

    Bioshock apt…I cant wait..

  • Ah… Disclaimers, what fun.

  • Where is my Kratos and Drake Home costumes?

  • Well, eventho the update is late, but its great in the end! Finally FF13 costumes and the Bioshock costumes of original Big Daddy and Big Sister. Now I can take a breather and start my newsletter once again… ^^

  • Haha! Final fantasy xiii costumes look cool. Looking forward to trying to win the keypad

  • Can you guys use your connections with Capcom to get us Personal Space Arcade Machines for Street Fighter IV, Final Fight and Magic Sword? These would be similar to the Namco Museum Essentials cabs used for Game Launching. Kudos for finally getting us more FFXIII stuff. I will also be looking forward to the new Sodium update. Keep up the good work.

  • NO APARTMENT!!??!! >_<!!!!!

I hope that Lightning costume will start to work now…considering last time I was on Home, (a couple days ago)…it still wasnt there.

Also, I bet I'd whoop all the HCM's at Bioshock 2 XD

  • Very cool on FF content and Bioshock wow. Can’t wait until tomorrow!

  • BTW..Im Big DadDy.,..Really…lol

  • hmmm a chatpad… I need one of those

  • i agreed with #7. I bought a keypad and found out the touch qwerty for move is not work.

  • As every week i must ask: Are we going to get (someday) HEAVY RAIN content in NA?

  • Now all we need is a Bioshock 2 public space with unlockables! :P

  • What happened to the Prototype Big Daddy costume that was released to people who preordered Bioshock 2? Will that remain a preorder bonus, or are you also including that in the new items?

    • The pre-order costume will not be included. Those items were solely for those that took advantage of that pre-order promotion.

  • If I already know the question that must be answered for the contest, why is there a need to log into home first? I think I missed something. :P Can’t you just answer the question by e-mailing through a computer?

  • will we still be getting the Audi Space from couple years age?

  • “Locust_Star | April 21st, 2010 at 4:30 pm

Phhheeww, that is good to know the Bioshock 2 Amazon.com promotional Prototype Big Daddy suit is not up for sale in HOME and stay as Amazon.com pre-order only. At least I don’t feel jipped now VS the Darksiders Amazon.com pre-order bonus became re-sale in HOME. So the Prototype Big Daddy is as rare as it gets now..Bwahahahaha.. ~__^

  • The ff13 costumes look bananas! Will there be any Fang costumes in the future? As well as a Final Fantasy 13 dedicated game space?

  • Hey locus_star i know that the MAG sver space was a preorder exlclusive, but do u know if will ever come to the public?

  • Sounds cool!

Unfortunately I haven’t been on Playstation Home in a while due to my PS3 breaking… I would get on Home one my friends PS3’s but I wouldn’t have any of my costumes or anything…

But I can’t wait to try everything out once I get my PS3 fixed!

    =)

  • Hi Locust,

Any chance in the near future of there being Canadian Flags and the provincial Flags available in the store? I would just like to represent where I am from. Old and New Flags to please…. Free NFLD!

  • This looks to be a pretty decent update coming this week. Definitely looking forward to checking out the Sodium updates. Just out of curiosity though, is it known if Home will be getting any more Tekken costumes (ex: Lei, Jack, Nina, and Anna)and/or more Resident Evil 5 costumes (ex: Jill, Excella, B.S.A.A. Operative, and Wesker)?

  • Awesome guys!

  • It’s kinda dumb..

I already bought the games :/ should be unlocked with platinum(costumes from games I mean)

or free to people who already own the game

  • Booo! U.S only :(

  • How about some God Of War 3 stuff for the playstation home?
i know alot of people would love to dress up like Kratos.
    And i’m one of them.

  • is sodium a beta product ? can it be played independent of home ? I have been considering purchasing for awhile but i dont know . is it a finished product embedded in a beta product or can it run by itself . does it share the same TOS as the rest of home ?

  • Gee that contest would be nice if it included Canada, save Quebec since their laws for promotions are dumb.

Come on! Send Canada some lovin’!

  • Cool update, contests are always fun.

  • i have the chat pad and honestly i wish i didn’t buy it
and like Sony, i’m willing to give a chat pad away also!
and this is for Canada only!

  • LOL @ 40..ITS OPPOSITE DAY FOR HIM…BUT ALL THESE UPDATES FOR HOME SOUNDS GOOD…BUT ADDING VOICE CHAT WOULD BE GREAT!! BUT I GUESS THIS STUFF IS GOOD FOR NOW :P KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.- LMFAO..”CANADA ONLY”

  • i hope i win

  • Keep updating Sodium One guys. It is probably like my favorite section of home.

  • Can’t wait for Sodium one Update, but what about a GTA content to Playstation Home(that will be sweeet).

  • Has there been any “fixes” to the Ghost Pirate ship space? I kept getting stuck in Item menu with no item to place. So I was unable to type or back out of Item placement. Its getting harder to defend Home with every week. I’ve spent alot of $ in Home and it seems every week All we are rewarded with is more ways to spend Money. Were is the actual content for everyday users? Home has so much more potential than just offering new virtual stuff to buy every week. Every week should have some type of scavenger hunt or something interesting to do. I tired of the focus of Home being people showing off what they bought this week. Its too disconnected from every other feature of the PS3.

  • I knew the Final Fantasy outfits already worked because they were coming. Man I knew it. Told my friend the reason they worked is because they are already on the servers.

Everybody forget about the shrinking potion? Also why isn’t home as glorious as when it wasn’t even out? Home is just a cash cow, wth guys. Give us quality and make us not want to collect make us play. If you got more companies to get Home items from playing games I’m sure more people would game launch and then game makers will have to support it. With only 5 or 7 games that actually win you something there is no incentive to game launch. Even that game launching event during the week isn’t a big deal.

  • inviting people over your personal space to play games, watch movies or listen to music would be nice.Even if its just you tube or internet radio. How about some Netflix support in Home. Anything to make it more integrated to the PS3 experience. The damn X-box 360 beat the PS3 to watching Movies with friends a key feature of what Home was supposed to be. Sorry for the ranting. I just want Home to be what it can be. I’m willing to pay for some features if thats what it takes. I would rather pay for features than another pair of virtual pants is all I’m saying. I’m sure others would agree.

  • Another contest for the USA only…

  • I know its off topic, but when are you guys gonna release a full trophy list for 3D dot game hero? and for all of you, check PS3trophies.org, Its awesome for guides to platinum games and help for your amazing playstation! just say dda1996a directed u there!

  • Awesome update :)… im wondering when u guys gonna do something about the ppl. who are stealing more than 1500+ items in home?
