  • Thank you for the awesome update this week. I own a PS3 and a PSVita, and the plus content has been very awsome. By the way my 4 year old loves Little Big Planet 2, along with myself, thanks lol. But I am tired of checking out the blogs regarding updates and plus stuff, and there are so many cry babies. The plus is really cheap and you get so much content. It pays for it self and some. Now i know alot of “gamers” only play or try certain games, myself as a “gamer”, i have too many titles to keep track of and beat, and enjoying it, and still looking for more titles to play. So, be happy with what playstation plus offers and try it out, or don’t be happy, stop crying, and play something else. Its not often you can get stuff for free in this world, so I thank you Sony, Playstation for everything you provide in a tough world.

Thanks for posting your reasoning for the differences in quality between the two regions. It makes sense for buying habits to effect the releases we get, and I completely agree with that. I also realize that NA is one of the biggest video game consumers int he world, if it isn’t the top consumer. This means that giving good retail games result in a loss for the American market.

But let’s take one particular game into consideration. We can do either Sleeping Dogs or Arkham City. Let’s say that both of these games were given as the free retail game for the month to EU based on the fact that:

    1) they did not do well in EU
    2) giving games like this out to Plus members may result in word of mouth advertising for the game, helping them in that market
    3) these games having been bought heavily by American consumers has the risk of being a free game that members already have

That’s fine and understood, but is this to say that there are -no- retail games from the previous year (AC released in 2011, released in plus 2012; SD released in 2012, released in plus 2013) that they can find for NA Plus? Furthermore, and I know I’m not speaking for all the complainers when I say this, but I would have been happy getting AC as a free game despite the fact that I spent 120$ on the Collector’s Edition when it came out. Why? Because I finally got equal value to EU for what I paid.

Anyway, the point I’m trying to make is there’s no reason for us to defend Sony, especially when you don’t know their inner workings. They are the salesman and we are the buyers. They will always try to give us the least while charging us the most. As a consumer, it’s our duty to ensure that we always push on the quality/quantity we receive for our investment. This is what drives capitalism.

Furthermore, Sony cannot ignore the effect of the internet on the modern world. Consumers will find out what other regions are getting and consumers will compare themselves to others. Sony has to get on the ball and while they probably will never please anyone, they have to show that they are trying.

For me, Darksiders being a second retail game for the month showed that they are. NBA Jam was so poorly received that they got off their asses and released another retail game to please their customers. Would this have happened if it weren’t for the North American Complainers’ League?

    I doubt it.

  • No matter how many times I try, I just can’t download the free game Foosball 2012.
I always get the message: “We’re sorry, this product cannot be purchased at this time.”

  • I wish you would release Ben 10 Racing for the vita and add Heavenly Sword as a game for the PS3…
I’ll pay for it even.. just want to play it again.

  • Very happy with this update. Seems to me the people forgot that we get free games for paying, while Xbox Live doesn’t get anything. :)

  • @508

    Thanks!
I think Leo is Ninja Gaiden Sigma PLUS.

  • Hi! My PS Plus expires on May.
If I renew my subscription now, what would happen to my remaining months under PS Plus?

  • @ neuropunk 514

NGS isnt that hard? It is without doubt one of the very hardest Platinums on Playstation. It is a brutal game and i dont care who you are or how good you say you are NOBODY can call NGS on Master Ninja mode AVERAGE difficulty. Especially since if you want the Plat you have to get Master Ninja RANK on every chapter on Master Ninja dificulty.

  • @Mikw15966 — Um, yes, Sony has to give Plus subscribers free games or discounts; that’s the whole purpose of being a Plus member. If Sony said, “Hey, guys, sign up for this $50-a-year membership; in return, every once in a while, you will get what scraps we decide to give you, maybe some avatars, maybe a 5-year-old game,” they would not be have a very successful marketing strategy. Instead, every week we are promised “great” freebies and “awesome” deals … only to invariably be let down. So, yeah, as much you like to toe the company line and be good, appreciative little soldier, Sony does in fact owe us something for our money.

  • We in the EU have been getting a sweeter deal with PS+ since last June at E3 2012 but you guys are forgetting that we pay more for our service than you do and you get more games per year than us.And we always get shafted when it comes to delays and release dates.

And the guy who said that EU always gets the red and blue PS3s like Japan? ‘Fraid not mate. I think ive seen 1 single red version of the last PS3 model and thats it!

  • Also, if you guys do make an EU account, i wouldnt shout about it on here as its against Sonys T&Cs.

  • Okay, I’m not one who comes on here and complains, but the last couple of Plus updates were kind of lame for the free games for PS3 users. Foosball?? Really?? What happened to AWESOME disc based games to download for free? Like you did with InFamous 1 and 2, Borderlands, etc. Some of these PSN games are cheesy and not what older (meaning age) Plus users would like. I’d deal with Call of Duty Black Ops, or maybe even, as a PSN game, Counter Strike Go, but Foosball? Heck, I even downloaded Darksiders to try out for the lack of good Plus offerings for free. And to those people that will, more than likely, jump on my case for complaining about free games, I understand they are FREE for people who SUBSCRIBE to the Plus program. But, for the FREE offerings, to keep people SUBSCRIBED, I’d suggest BETTER offerings than some of the crap we get. Sorry, but everyone knows I’m right. Right?

I will thank you guys for some of the awesome games you did offer us in 2012, here’s hoping 2013 will be even better for us PS3 only users. I don’t own a Vita and probably never will, so Vita games won’t do me, or PS3 only users any good. Vita users, more power to ya! But please, all I ask is better quality games than Foosball. lol

  • I love my vita and this update and what plus has in store for th future; however, its hard not to envy EU when they get a GOTY nominee and the US gets a great game that has been rebooted a few times. jus sayin… it makes me feel like im a step child in a way.

  • @Sevyne – Arnt’t u the guy complaining abt hving foosball as a Vita game and not a good Vita game?

@mnstrings – This kitty avatar doesn’t suit u, go back to the witch one!

  • @Sc1_F5ve U mean Bioshock 2 was a GOTY nominee? But we got it last month!

  • I tried Bioshock and Bioshock 2, and this is my opinion, both games are not what I would call great, terrific, or awesome. Two horrible games that should never have been released. So I see why Bioshock 2 was released as a Plus freebie. Along with Foosball. O_o

  • I cant find NGS on IGC yet. Why?

  • @XtemmA2 wait till 5:00 PM PST

  • @sab_krit oh, … ty.

  • I see the headline: “Ninja Gaiden Sigma Free” and I think, “Great, I never bought that PS3 game, but I liked the demo and I’d love to play it!”

Then I see that the game isn’t Ninja Gaiden Sigma, but Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus – different game, different platform. Which I don’t have. Ouch. Excited hopes dashed.

At least fix the headline and get the game title right.

  • I think there are reasons that some games are released in some territories and not others. This probably has to do with publishers accepting or not to have their games given away to plus members, and this might be different depending on the territory, because sales of games are different in different zones.

A game that was a hit over here might not be a good choice for various reasons (most people already got it, or it is still selling great). But at the same time, the same game, who didn’t fare as good in another territory, might be a good candidate for Plus over there.

While I admit that Plus didn’t have very good offers or freebies since a month or two, the 13 for 13 sale was awesome for Plus members, and this Ninja Gaiden free game is also very cool. Who cares if it’s selling for 20$ at retail. That’s still a 20$ game I get for free. So far, I can’t say Plus wasn’t worth the money, as I got hundreds of dollars worth of games since I subscribed (not even a full year yet).

The competition is asking 60$ a year for giving stuff you get for free everywhere else. Here, we pay 50$ and get a truckload of freebies over a year. Some people are just ungrateful.

  • My vote was inaccurate. I voted thinking Ninja Gaiden was for PS3. It should be “nothing for me this week”.

Frankly, I’m a bit resentful that Vita owners get specific content, especially when it could easily be a cross platform game. On a service that I pay for I can use the content.

I’m not that upset since I’m still taking in what I got from the 13 sale, but I do look forward to the updates & I hate when I can’t benefit from them.

  • Nice! I am glad I got a Vita, I am really enjoying it so far.

  • @RE4LNOiZE_42 Dude, good you liked the current games being offered by US plus. Nooone is trash talking to u asking why u like the service and what it got to offer u. Please, try to be a lil decent and stop trash talking the ppl who didn’t like what they get from the service they pay. Ungrateful? What u mean by that this is not a free service, they ain’t complaing to u.

60$ or 50$ ain’t the problem. its the quality which they get. I dont mind getting one less PSN game for a quality Full game. Might be not the same for e1 but still its my opinion and this blog is to let Sony know abt that.

  • @SiriusCJS – NGS+ is not cross play.

  • Morgan Haro can you guys PLEASE add Dark Cloud 2 to the PSN Store or give it to us for free as Plus Members or something. I’m annoyed that this game isn’t already there :( it’s an instant Classic and one of the best Games ever made. It’s also a game that just has vanished or wasn’t that popular. This is a Criminal Injustice that isn’t not on the USA PSN servers. Please let me know if something can be done Morgan, thanks!

  • I wanted the PS Vita so badly until Sony decided to use that proprietary memory stick just so they could charge 3 times the price for flash memory. That is the sole reason I am not playing PS Vita right now. Morgan, any chance Sony will come out with a new hardware that accepts normal MicroSD cards?

  • wow serious typo there :P How did I not see that one? What I ment to say is” that it isn’t here on the USA PSN Servers.”

  • @claygriffith LOL! Even PS2 had the same problem. Wait for next generation console.

  • MORGAN give us Dark Cloud 2 please…Or else I may take some Bathsalts and go on a Violent Zombie Fueled Bum killing Rampage. :D

  • sleeping dogs in Europe and here we get to give this injustice … gives to think

  • @sab_krit: Yeah I did complain about foosball? What’s your point? Did you actually READ the rest of my post or skim over and decide to bother me for no reason? Is it that since I complained about something that was bad that I should NEVER defend Sony? If you have a problem with the quality of releases then that’s one thing, but what people are complaining about in here is ridiculous. They are complaining about not getting a free PS3 game on a week they wouldn’t have gotten one anyway since they’ve already gotten 3 for January. So whatever you think you are trying to prove just stop now because you’re going to make a fool of yourself. I’m not a fanboy nor a hater. As I said, chose your battles wisely.

  • @Sevyne –
‘So whatever you think you are trying to prove just stop now because you’re going to make a fool of yourself. As I said, chose your battles wisely.’
Why are you feeling so insecured? Cuz you know u made a mistake by complaining last week for not getting a good vita game and now trashtalking the ppl who get no ps3 game?
Ok, I will just stop saying this, its ok u feel insecured. Next time think twice or thrice even before starting a battle with anyone or for ur own and community’s good dont even start a battle.

  • Ick, I hated the Dark Cloud games. Weapon repair game mechanics make me cry.

  • Oh before u start anything. I was never complaining abt not getting a PS3 game this week.

  • @GT-420 Do u like MAG?

  • What are you even saying? If you don’t have a point to prove then why are you even talking to me? Let me make this perfectly clear to you since your brain can’t seem to register what I’m trying to say.

I think this month’s offerings were crap, but I already made that perfectly clear a previous week so I wasn’t going to just repeat saying it for no reason.

This week a bunch of people are complaining that they didn’t get a free PS3 game. That is stupid. Every month you get 3 PS3 games and this month they ALREADY got 3 PS3 games. I never said they were good games, but they aren’t complaining about how bad or good they are, but instead of complaining about the amount of games they got.

Insecure? I just think you are being incredibly stupid as are the people complaining they didn’t get more PS3 games this week. It’s always been this way.

  • “sleeping dogs in Europe and here we get to give this injustice … gives to think”

For people complaining about this, why don’t you let Square Enix know how you feel? They’re the publisher of the game. At least in the US. These third party deals are about the publishers in the territories. Ask them why Europe gets Sleeping Dogs for free and we don’t. Of course, maybe the US will too since it isn’t out in Europe until February. I wouldn’t blame Sony for this stuff though. It’s not their game to give away. It does seem like the third party publishers are being nicer to Europe. Why is that?

  • @ sab_krit,

Slow down here. Why were you so affected by my comment? I haven’t talked about anyone in particular. I’m just a little confused about seeing so many people complaining about PS+. I can understand the complaints from time to time, even myself, I can be pretty critical towards Sony. And sure, like I said, PS+ offerings has been less than stellar since a month or two. But I never said that I “like” the current games offered by US PS+. And besides, that is irrelevant to the point I was making.

My point was that the overall value, for a year of Plus, far outweights the costs. If I look at it only on a monthly basis, then sure, I understand why some people would complain. But like I said, I got hundreds of dollars worth of games over less than a year. My point was about the value I get over a year. Not about whether or not I like the games on offer for the past months.

Some might say that a game they don’t like don’t have any value to them since they’re not interested in it, and I agree it’s a way of seeing things. But not everyone likes all type of games, so Sony could NEVER pleases everyone. There will ALWAYS be people complaining.

  • @Sevyne –
‘ I just think you are being incredibly stupid as are the people complaining they didn’t get more PS3 games this week’
ohhhhhh more insecurity shown clearly by the language. What my point is, nvm it is too much for u to understand or an immatured kid who tries to act more than his/her age. Eitherways not worth my time!!!

  • why does it take sooooo long for the p.s.n store to update i turn on my 360 and bam its up i love both systems but when i want play a game or a demo or a beta its never up till late in the after noon or late night come on psn step your game up going toplay crysis 3 beta on my 360 since its not up yet on psn……..booooo!!!!!!

  • @NOiZE_42 –

Just saw ur first sentence. Stopped going thru rest of ur comment :D. You make no sense.

  • @sab_krit: No it isn’t too much for me to understand because you actually never had a point to begin with. The only insecure person here is you. You came in here and attacked me for no reason at all and made no effort to actually make a point. You just blindly attacked and you are doing the same to others. If you don’t have any real input then don’t start crap with people; It’s just that simple.

  • Ratchet and Clank: Full Frontal Assault on the Vita……what gives sony? I bought the game the day it came out and you guys def said the 29th….which is today. Why do you keep doing this to me and everyone else? Why drop the ball on something like this? I don’t understand why you have to keep pushing the vita ported version?

Also, you want more people on the vita system? Then how about porting over some games on it. Since there are few games out for the system(not saying the 3ds has alot out). Both you and nintendo are being lazy in the handheld console wars. I own both systems and I play on my ipad more……

  • @ sab_krit,

Also, what I meant by ungrateful is that Sony is giving stuff away (although you pay for the service so I know, it’s not technically *free*) and people constantly complains about how bad they think the service is because they don’t like the games on offer.

I can understand why some people would think that, as not everyone likes every type of games, but still, I fail to see where Sony failed to live to what they promised. I mean, were there really people out there thinking that their 50$ subscription would grant them all the coolest recent games out there? I constantly see people asking for a specific game that has been released recently to be free to PS+ subscribers. I can understand the frustration to see some games you’d like be given in another region and not here, but I don’t think Sony would be to blame here. I think they need the publisher approbation and they might not agree for all regions for various reasons.

    Frustrating? Yes.

But does that make PS+ a bad service? Hell no.

  • @RE4LNOiZE_42

Sorry my bad. Erase the last post. You make sense, it each person’s prespective whether they feel they get their money’s worth. You feel you got 100’s dollar worth game so ur 50$ subscription is above par. Some ppl might not be the same cuz when they see EU gets recent games comepared to what US has to offer them, they cry out here. Just let them do it. I am just saying there’s nothing wrong in that, its between them and Sony like its between u and sony. Don’t take their comments personnel and start arguing with them, thats all I say.
