Recap: PlayStation at E3 2015

Whew, we made it! Another E3 in the books, and what a show it was. Our press conference started us off with a bang (and some of you were lucky enough to watch it on the big screen): The Last Guardian re-emerged on PS4 with a 2016 launch date, Shenmue III was officially announced (and nearly instantly funded on Kickstarter), and the long-awaited Final Fantasy VII Remake was finally revealed. And let’s not forget Guerrilla’s beautiful Horizon Zero Dawn, a slate of new games for Project Morpheus, a face-melting new demo for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, a new Media Player app on PS4, Destiny: The Taken King’s grand debut, and Call of Duty’s new home on PlayStation with Black Ops III.

Of course, there’s been far more news than that… You know what? Let’s just list every PlayStation.Blog post from the past week!

  • Hey Justin,

    Awesome E3!

I look forward to No Mans Sky and The Tomorrows Children this Fall.

Please bring more “Avatar” Pictures to the PS4.

    Cheers!!!

    Rob aka Graf

P.S. Please add Meridith to the PS Blog and other PS Stuff. She is cool!

  • Great E3, so many cool games coming, its really going to be fun over the next year.

  • What an excellent E3! What a wild week! What incredible coverage :-)

“You know what? Let’s just list every PlayStation.Blog post from the past week!”… and I commented on nearly all of them :-D.*

(*Well, I tried to, but with so much news there’s just so much to keep up with! I did top more than 1/3rd of these 39 posts, though ;-)

  • I love all the coverage of E3 you guys put out. For a regular old gamer like me, who can’t attend E3 in person, it is the only way I at least get a taste of all the excitement. Thank you so much for bringing the Playstation E3 Experience to Tucson, AZ this year. It was a neat way to help fans feel a part of the press conference. I look forward to going again next year and still hold out hope that someday I may be able to attend in person. Until then, keep up the good work.

Thanks very much for the kind words! I’m glad you were able to make it to the E3 Experience. ^_^

  • While I’m totally blown away by all the new content that was shown and teased, it occurs to me that yet another e3 has gone by and nary a word about the Vita.

I am definitely a Sony fanboy. Ive owned every system since I got a PSX when I was really young. I love sitting in front of the TV and playing amazing AAA games with awesome stories and such.

You know what I love even more? Doing that on the go. I own dang near every physical Vita game available in the US and relish the chance to pick up new ones. I really feel like you guys are starting to alienate a large part of the fantasy when you have literally no interest in supporting the Vita.

Please, do something about that. All in all, it was a wonderful e3 but you dropped the ball on the Vita.

  • Absolutely loved the show.

Watched it on my PS4 via Live Events as I had this past week off and was able see the whole week’s worth.

Heard a lot of people upset, but in my own opinion, was the best or at least one of the best I’ve seen in quite a while.

Hopefully more will be coming for the Vita as it’s a great little handheld, but I see so many other things you’re developing as well that I really am exited to try.

One thing though, please try to keep supporting these new products….I saw the move looks promising and may be used with Morpheus, so at least I’ll be able to use my Move controllers more as well.

Any ways, great show and keep up the great work !

Thanks for watching! I got a chance to try a few new Morpheus demos — VR is crazy (in a good way).

  • It’s so sad.
You’re doing all these PR stuff, like “The best E3 ever!” “Super awesome! Project Morpheus! Woo-hoo!” and all that…and even your F-boys are celebrating your pathetic Conference…just FOR 3 GAMES!

A 17-Yrs old Remake…an almost mythological game (that looks waaay outdated by today’s standards)…and a Kickstarter game, based on a niche “franchise”. That’s all you’ve got this year. And again: even your F-boys are noticing that.

The only difference is that while the brainwashed sheeps are yelling “Wow! Those 3 games have blown my mind!”…the rest of us are just trying to understand how 3 measly titles can make “The best E3 ever”.

Oh, yeah…let’s not forget that dumb Timed-exclusive…and the Uncharted 3 Expansion in Full HD.

If not for Horizon…I would’ve thought you were never there this year.

3 games. That’s it. And you’re still trying to sell it as “the best”. Only if that’s “The Best Flop”.

MS OWNED YOU this year. And you know it.
The only ones blind enough to see an alternate reality where you actually “won” are your F-boys…but not even them are able to convincingly sell Sony’s E3.

    So sad… SMH

    • Justin Massongill

We had more than three games on stage, not sure which conference you were watching… Thanks for commenting though!

    • @Justin Massongill : I didn’t say that you had only 3 games on stage…what I said was that you only had 3 WINS (aka games that people actually want/celebrate). The other things you guys showed at stage were kinda crappy IMO.

You just need to take a look at what your F-boys are saying: they’re not celebrating U4 nor Activision’s timed-exclusive deal. They’re not even saying “Wow, awesome Conference! Dreams FTW!”. They’re just happy for 3 GAMES. That’s your “win”.
And those are your unreasonable followers, the same people that now are desperately trying to “justify” why you’re killing the Vita or why there’s no BC for the PS4 …what do you expect from the rest of us?

Again: MS was the clear winner.

I know it’s your job to do PR and “damage control”…but the best salesman in the World can’t sell a rotten tomato as “gourmet cuisine”.
Facts are stronger than a company’s fiction…and the sooner you (and everyone else at SCEA) realize that, the better it’ll be for the company. Humility is sometimes the best selling strategy in the World.

      Thanks for replying though!
(it’s not sarcasm…I disagree with you…but Thank You for taking the time to reply ;)

  • 39 videos and only one mentions the PS Vita, which is shared with the PS4 and is about 3 indie games.

Words can’t begin to describe my disappointment at Sony’s indifference towards PS Vita owners…

  • Make ps2 classics playable on Vita and ps4

  • Start making cash right now… Get more time with your family by doing jobs that only require for you to have a computer and an internet access and you can have that at your home. Start bringing up to $8000 a month. I’ve started this job and I’ve never been happier and now I am sharing it with you, so you can try it too. You can check it out here….   • The Good;
    1) Horizon Zero Dawn
    2) PS4 media app

    The Bad
    1) Nothing about Vita
    2) No improvements to PS TV
    3) Too many sequels and remakes
    4) Exclusive deals that hurt gamers

I would say that overall this year’s E3 was meh, and forgettable.

  • Allow me to recap the sony E3….No BackWards Compatibility, A remake(third party),several sequels, one they are at crowd funding stage(which i want but sony should have funded it and brought it to ps4 seeing them hock crowd funding was embarrassing) and a blurry game about a boy and his dragon-dog,and third party games.two min about VR which did not look good,30 seconds on vita (the price cut rumor had me thinking of picking up a vita but after that E3 holding off). not to mention the poor job the speakers did…that was ugly.

  • I attended the Sun Prairie, WI E3 theater showing and they hadn’t received the lanyards, posters, stickers or anything for us. Is there any way for those of us that attended to get at least our codes? I really wanted that lanyard with No Man’s Sky on it, but I’d be content with just the code at this point.

  • You know what could top off E3 next year? A remake of Chrono Trigger for the PS Vita and PS4.

  • I think the part where EA went and asked for Pele and then got him from FIFA was out of this world. Electronic Arts having Pele on stage for the FIFA Soccer game is most definitely going down in history.
